Team News

Dundee FC
Kilmarnock
  • Dundee boss Tony Docherty made two changes from the Dee's 2-2 Tayside derby day draw against St Johnstone in Perth, before they fell to a 3-0 defeat away at reigning champions Celtic last weekend.
  • Cammy Kerr replaced Jordan McGhee at right-back to join Joe Shaughnessy, Ricki Lamie and Owen Beck in the Dundee defence. Coventry City loanee Ryan Howley made his Dee debut at Celtic Park, taking Scott Tiffoney's place.
  • Elsewhere, Malachi Boateng sat in front of the back four alongside Finlay Robertson. Luke McCowan and Zach Robinson were looking to support Amadou Bakayoko in attack.
  • Derek McInnes named two changes to the Kilmarnock team that lost their last Scottish Premiership match at Rugby Park 1-0 to Ross County prior to the international break, before claiming a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Hibernian.
  • Joe Wright came in for Tom Davies as Killie shuffled to a back four last weekend. Lewis Mayo started at right back with the aforementioned Wright and Robbie Deas in the middle and Stuart Findlay at left back.
  • Club captain Kyle Vassell took David Watson's place to lead the line. He was supported by Brad Lyons, Kyle Magennis and Marley Watkins. Danny Armstrong and Matty Kennedy occupied the wide areas.

Prediction

  • The last two Scottish Championship champions, managed by two halves of a former managerial partnership, go head-to-head as Dundee host Kilmarnock at Dens Park this weekend.
  • The Dee have had a somewhat stuttering start upon their return to Scotland's top tier. Whilst you can't read too much into two draws and two defeats, either side of a victory over Hearts, the losses have come against the top two heading into this weekend whilst they've been competitive in every other league match so far. That being said, a win here would prove very beneficial.
  • Killie appeared to have got off to the ideal start after beating Rangers in Ayrshire on the opening day. They then knocked the holders out of the Scottish League Cup after a draw with Hearts in Edinburgh. Since the win against Celtic, they've lost two consecutive league matches to Motherwell and Ross County and fought back to draw with Hibs so will want to get back to winning ways.
  • The student takes on the master and, given Tony Docherty previously worked so closely with Derek McInnes, a share of the spoils between Dundee and Kilmarnock is somewhat likely.
