- Hearts boss Steven Naismith made two changes after the Jambos booked a place in the League Cup semi-final after a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, before a 1-0 victory in the Highlands against Ross County last weekend.
- Odel Offiah replaced Cammy Devlin as the men in maroon shifted to a back three with Toby Sibbick joining Frankie Kent and Kye Rowles at centre-back. Stephen Kingsley started at left wing-back in the absence of Alex Cochrane.
- The only other alteration saw Aidan Denholm join Calem Nieuwenhof and Jorge Grant in the middle of the park. He replaced the weekend matchwinner Alan Forrest, who was assisted by fellow substitute Alex Lowry.
- Nick Montgomery made two changes from Hibernian winning their League Cup quarter-final 4-2 against St Mirren at Easter Road, before they were held at home in a goalless draw versus Dundee on Saturday afternoon.
- Lewis Stevenson and Paul Hanlon replaced Jordan Obita and Rocky Bushiri, at left-back and centre-back respectively, to give the Hibees' backline a little bit more experience. They joined Will Fish and Lewis Miller in the Hibernian back four.
- Joe Newell and Jimmy Jeggo continued in midfield, with Élie Youan and Martin Boyle on the flanks. Adam Le Fondre accompanied Dylan Vente in attack, as Christian Doidge had to settle for a spot amongst the substitutes at the weekend.
