Team News

Ross County
Hearts
  • Ross County boss Malky Mackay named three changes to the Staggies side that was thumped 4-0 by Aberdeen at Pittodrie in league duty last Sunday, before the Dons beat them in Dingwall 2-1 in their Scottish League Cup quarter-final.
  • Despite conceding four goals at the weekend, County named an unchanged back three in front of Ross Laidlaw in goal on Wednesday night. However, George Harmon replaced Josh Reid at left wing-back.
  • Kyle Turner came off the bench to net a consolation from the spot after Victor Loturi took his spot in the starting eleven. Josh Sims replaced Jordan White to join Yan Dhanda in support of lone striker Simon Murray in midweek.
  • Hearts boss Steven Naismith made three changes after the Jambos lost 1-0 to St Mirren in their last Scottish Premiership match, before they booked a place in the League Cup semi-final after a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
  • Nathaniel Atkinson picked up an injury in Paisley, so Toby Sibbick took his spot at right-back. Beni Baningime dropped out of the starting eleven, with Jorge Grant taking his chance in midfield as he fired the Jambos ahead on Tuesday night.
  • Alan Forrest started on the left flank, at Liam Boyce's expense. Alex Lowry came off the bench to net the winner and is pushing to start for Hearts. Kenneth Vargas continued on the right wing with Lawrence Shankland leading the line.

Prediction

  • Both Ross County and Hearts played in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals in midweek, with the hosts crashing out of the competition but the visitors progressing to the last four.
  • Like their visitors, the Staggies' start to the Scottish Premiership season has been inconsistent. In fairness to County, the fixture computer wasn't the kindest early on as their three league defeats so far came against last season's top three in the league table. The only other disappointment was the draw in Dingwall to Livi in their last home league match and they won't want another here.
  • The Jambos put aside their difficulties, in what's been an underwhelming start to the Scottish Premiership campaign, with what they hope will be a huge morale-boosting victory away against Kilmarnock. Hearts are heading to Hampden but want to improve on their league showing - ahead of playing Rangers - so picking up points in some upcoming tricky games would be welcomed.
  • Ross County lost all three league meetings against the Jambos last season, but will hope to respond to their League Cup disappointment by holding Hearts at home here to claim at least a point.
