Team News

Villarreal
Valencia
  • Alberto Moreno is sidelined through suspension after recieving a second yellow against Betis, while Jorge Cuenca returns from a one match ban.
  • Bertrand Traore managed 74 minutes from a starting position last week and could keep his place in the side over Ilias Akhomach.
  • Alexander Sorloth and Gerard Moreno have been among the goals throughout the last couple of weeks and should be relied upon again for the Valencia derby.
  • Peter Gonzalez has impressed with three cameos in a row off the bench for Valencia. The youngster, signed from Real, has an opportunity to put his name on the map this weekend.
  • Hugo Guillamon is suspended after picking up five yellow cards in La Liga this season.

Prediction

  • Villarreal host Valencia for an exciting south-coast Derby on Sunday afternoon at the Estadi de la Ceramica. Valencia took the points in the reverse fixture, winning 3-1 thanks to two Pepelu penalties, an important midfielder who is yet to score from open play this season and a formidable penalty taker.
  • Villarreal have not kept a clean sheet in six attempts, and although they have improved at the top of the pitch, they have been leaking goals as of late. Valencia, meanwhile, last scored on the road on the 14th of January, and will not have the comfort of home in the Ceramica boiling pot this weekend.
  • This one should be a goalfest given the history between these two, with Villarreal coming out on top.
