Team News

Atletico
Athletic Club
  • Marcos Llorente returns from suspension to face Athletic Club, while Stefan Savic replaces him on the sidelines after picking up a yellow card ban.
  • Alvaro Morata has a knock. Angel Correa should stand in up top with Griezmann.
  • Rodrigo de Paul was brought off against Alaves at half time but is fit to start this one.
  • Oscar De Marcos is suspended for this one having picked up his fifth yellow of the season in the 1-1 draw with Granada.
  • Aitor Paredes was brought off at half time with contusion and is a doubt for the weekend. Yeray Alvarez could step in to deputise.

Prediction

  • Atletico Madrid host Athletic Club on Saturday night, hoping to put their unfortunate defeat to Alaves last weekend behind them as they aim to secure Champions League football. The visitors dropped points too last weekend against Granada, making this night time six pointer all the more interesting as only three points separate the two.
  • Ernesto Valverde has steered his side to three victories in the last three meetings between the two sides. Bilbao won and kept a clean sheet at the San Mames back in December. What's more, the visitors have been ticking along despite their drop in form since their Copa del Rey triumph, scoring five in their last five.
  • Predicting a winner is tough here, with Atleti much more superior at home this season. There is some unrest at the Civitas now, though, and Athletic Club could definitely take advantage and make the race for Europe even more exciting come the twilight of the season.
