Team News

Real Betis
Sevilla
  • Both Sokratis and Marc Roca return from the sidelines and will be available for selection. Chimy Avila and Hector Bellerin are still a week or two away from match fitness.
  • Cedric Bakambu has started twice up front for Betis since joining the club in January and is seeming to be finding his feet with powerful runs and hold up play.
  • Youssouf Sabaly started in the win over Valencia and should keep his place at right-back.
  • Kike Salas returns from his suspension and could be called upon in defence for the derby.
  • Nemanja Gudelj played 81 minutes against Mallorca but will be out for this one with a knee injury, encouraging Sevilla to go with four at the back.

Prediction

  • El Gran Derbi kicks off on Sunday night as the city of Seville is poked in to life by one of the fiercest football rivalries in Spain. Betis welcome Sevilla to the Benito Villamarin on the south side of the city. Back in November the game finished 1-1 at Sevilla's place after two goals in the last 20.
  • Though Sevilla are 11 points behind Real Betis - five league places separate them - they have had somewhat of a resurgence in the second half of the season, having won three games on the spin going in to this weekend. They will be brimming with confidence to face their closest league rivals. Betis have won their last two games, though fans have pointed out a certain lack of sting in Manuel Pellegrino's side that needs addressing this summer.
  • Expect this one to be a cagey affair with plenty of scrapping. Sevilla seem to be playing the smarter football as a team at the moment while Betis rely on individual brilliance.
