Team News

Real Betis
Deportivo Alaves
  • Isco is out with a hamstring injury and will be out until March at least - a big miss for Betis.
  • Chimy Avila has fully recovered from his thigh injury and should be ready to play.
  • Betis face Dinamo Zagreb in the conference league on Thursday evening and could rotate somewhat this weekend.
  • Alaves have no new injuries to report.
  • Carlos Vicente will likely be involved on Sunday, but whether he starts over Alex Sola or features from the bench is yet to be certain.
  • Abdel Aqbar is back in the side after his AFCON exploits, playing well next to Rafa Marin. He could well start again in a youthful centre-back pairing.

Prediction

  • Real Betis welcome Deportivo Alaves to the Benito Villamarin in hopes of pulling away from Sociedad to solidify their sixth place position in the league. Eight points behind Athletic Club in fifth, Betis need to start notching points on the board if they want to be certain of Europe come the end of the season.
  • Alaves are still on a mission to break into the top half of the table and are now ten points from the drop, taking the pressure off a little. The pressure would have been well and truly on had they not signed Samu Omorodion in the summer, who is arguably one of the transfers of the season. His ten goal contributions in 14 starts will worry Betis.
  • Expect both teams to score, here. Betis are the most likely victors.
