Team News

Athletic Club
Granada
  • Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta returns from his suspension and should feature in the heart of midfield in the place of the sturdy Mikel Vesga.
  • Oihan Sancet scored in his second consecutive match in the draw with Villarreal last weekend, he will likely feature again amidst potential rotation.
  • Nico Williams was taken off in the 70th minute whilst Inaki played a full 90 on Sunday - Expect the younger brother to be the sharpest.
  • Oscar Melendo should return from his knock on Friday after being absent from the winning squad against Alaves on Sunday.
  • Lucas Boye and Myrto Uzuni both scored in that vital victory, and will no doubt be relied upon again to help Granada achieve the impossible at the foot of the table.

Prediction

  • Athletic Club welcome Granada to the San Mames on Friday night, eager to close the gap on Atleti in third place to just a point - they were majorly frustrated and had a victory snatched away from them thanks to a late Villarreal penalty last week.
  • Granada, if they are able to pull off their first ever - unlikely - two wins on the bounce, would potentially go eight points from safety. If they can somehow stay in this league, it will be one of the greatest La Liga escapes in history. They did manage to salvage a point in Andalusia back in December, and did a good job of digging in for 90 minutes.
  • Granada haven't scored on the road, though, since mid-March, and Athletic Club are unbeaten at home in 19 matches - it looks like this one can only go one way.
