Team News

Real Sociedad
Almeria
  • Brais Mendez is reportedly out with a metatarsal fracture and could be unavailable for at least two months - his season could well be over, with the spritely Arsen Zakharyan stepping in.
  • Robin Le Normand is back from suspension and should return in central defence.
  • Alvaro Odriozola returns to the squad and could be eased back into the side as the back end of the season approaches.
  • Gonzalo Melero returns from his one-match ban and will be available in midfield for Almeria.
  • Ibrahima Konate is still a doubt to return to the squad this weekend, whilst Luis Suarez is still a few games away from playing fitness.

Prediction

  • Real Sociedad welcome bottom side Almeria to San Sebastian on Sunday night, looking to gain a fourth consecutive victory for the first time this season - if they can play with calm and precision, a victory over Almeria would set them on their longest winning streak in a somewhat disappointing season in La Liga this year.
  • Almeria could level on points - or even overtake - Granada if results were to go their way this weekend, but their attempts at playing for safety could well be in vein as they float 15 points adrift of 17th place. Sociedad are playing for a Europa League spot as they trail rivals Athletic Club by seven points.
  • Almeria have shown fight and promise in recent weeks and are searching for their second victory of the season, but it could all be too late for Pepe Mel's men.
