Team News

Valencia
Osasuna
  • Valencia will most likely stick with the same starting eleven that boss Ruben Baraja has fielded in both of Valencia's opening games in La Liga.
  • New signing Pepelu conjured a man of the match performance in Los Ches' 1-0 victory over Las Palmas and will be relied upon again this week.
  • Marcos André De Sousa and Alberto Marí are still out with injuries.
  • The club continue their pursuit of a striker but it does not look like there will be a new starter in time for Sunday.
  • Chimy Avila is suspended for Osasuna following his sending off last week against Athletic Club - a horrendous, jumping two-footed challenge.
  • Although falling to defeat last week, the visitors should stick with their native 4-3-3, relying on the danger of Moi Gómez and Rubén García from the flanks.
  • Osasuna will play the game on Sunday having faced Club Brugge in the Conference League on Wednesday, so some rotation would not be a surprise.

Prediction

  • In two weeks, Valencia have had their best start to a La Liga campaign since the 2011/12 season, which is certainly impressive given the likes of Jordi Alba, Sergio Canales, and Paco Alcacer were all playing for the club at the time. They are one of only three teams in the league this season to have won both of their opening matches.
  • Osasuna looked very good in game week one, but are coming into this one off the back of a loss to Atheltic Club at home, and the knock on effect of winning one game comfortably, whilst being dominated in the other, could be a challenge for Jagoba Arrasate's side. Furthermore, despite Valencia's troubles on the pitch last year, Los Ches were still able to beat Osasuna home and away in La Liga, suggesting momentum will swing the home side's way on Sunday.
  • A draw is the most sensible prediction here, though....
