Team News

Liverpool
Arsenal
  • Liverpool remain without the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota, while defender Joel Matip has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
  • Alexis Mac Allister remains sidelined with a knee issue.
  • Curtis Jones could start here, after his standout display against West Ham in the Carabao Cup.
  • Mikel Arteta remains without long-term absentees Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey, while Takehiro Tomiyasu now looks set for a spell on the sidelines.
  • Jorginho is a doubt, after suffering an ankle injury.
  • Mikel Arteta should look to go with the same XI as that which saw off Brighton last weekend.

Prediction

  • Liverpool's flawless start to the season at home was halted by Manchester United last weekend, as the Red Devils held the hosts to a goalless draw.
  • Jurgen Klopp's side responded with a 5-1 thrashing of West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, though, and should be full of confidence ahead of this one.
  • Arsenal got back on track in the Premier League with a 2-0 home victory over Brighton last time out, to reclaim top spot. The Gunners, however, are just one point ahead of Liverpool heading to Anfield.
  • Mikel Arteta's side raced into a 2-0 lead after 28 minutes when they visited Anfield last season, but ultimately let three points slip from their grasp as Liverpool fought back to earn a 2-2 draw.
  • A similar result could be on the cards this time around.

  • This game is what football should always strive to be. End to end, open, allowing the best players to make a difference through individual brilliance.

  • @sarigginsUSA Come on, it wasn't *that* good!

  • Fantastic game so far, absolute insane that the handball wasn't called but I'm glad they at least didn't spend ages on the decision. Szoboszlai, Salah and TAA have been absolutely incredible so far.

  • 0-1 final score

  • 0-1

  • 1-2

  • One thing for sure, there will be goals.

  • Tough game vs a decent team with lots of luck lately.

  • @Jimic which one has a lots of luck? I was thinking both are opposite of luck having suffered their defeats from VAR

  • @Jimic who’s been lucky??

  • @Fauda Liverpool

  • @Fauda Arsenal

  • 3-2 liverpool

  • @FF2021 Arsenal not losing 3:2 in this game. Arsenal are stronger than last season with Rice being the best midfielder in the league.

  • @albgunn well he said Liverpool will lose 3-2.. which I also don't believe. They hardly lose big games at home and they will be ready tomorrow.

  • @GoonerRSA Liverpool have been wobbly lately. They are not the force they were 2 seasons ago. Arsenal could have matched all 3 points last season at Anfield. Home records are famously broken weekly in EPL . Not saying Arsenal are favourites . They are superior all over the field except in 1/2 areas. You don’t know what Liverpool you are going to get nowadays. Arsenal are only suffering against low block teams and Liverpool are the compete opposite. Meaning Arsenal will attack and Liverpool will play Klopp’s counter when they can. May the best win. :)

  • @albgunn Chelsea wasn’t playing low block vs Arsenal neither did spurs and especially that chelsea game it could’ve easily been a loss to Arsenal bar some Chelsea stupidity. Villa as well looked better vs Arsenal when they were attacking as soon as they tried defending Arsenal had many chances. Those are three big games where Arsenal struggled in moments where the opposition played further forward.
