Team News

Chelsea
Liverpool
  • Summer addition Christopher Nkunku joins Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Armando Broja and Marcus Bettinelli on the sidelines.
  • Noni Madueke is a doubt for the home side, though Mauricio Pochettino is well stocked for wingers.
  • Summer signings Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson are set to start, while youngster Carney Chukwuemeka is set to feature in the number 10 role.
  • Central midfielders Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic miss out for Liverpool.
  • Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have joined to bolster the midfield, but the Reds are still short of options in a key area following a number of summer exits.
  • Jurgen Klopp has an abundance of attacking options at his disposal.

Prediction

  • Chelsea kick off a new era under Mauricio Pochettino and the Blues take on rivals Liverpool to kick off their campaign. They won only six home league games last season, and record they'll look to improve upon.
  • Liverpool have lost key midfielders this summer, and their first team squad does look light. A lack of defensive cover may prove costly, though they do have the firepower to put any team to the sword.
  • These have traditionally been low-scoring affairs, and Sunday's game may follow suit.

  • A lot of fans and pundits alike wrote Chelsea off, thanks whoscored.com for your timely analysis...you the GoAt of predictors when it matters most *thumbs up*

  • Disasi looked good and could be the most underrated signing of the summer window.

  • Liverpool looks goooooddddd! MacLister + Szobo. Salah + Dias...as usual

  • @CJK What are you talking about? Liverpool were practically non-existent after Chelsea's goal.

  • Chelsea 1-0

  • Under is the Value

  • X2

  • As a chelsea fan i would say that the team of this season is very weak. i really like persons like james or sterling or enzo but this season will be terrible such as the last one.

  • @a.a.epifanov you are wrong and very wrong at that, if Pooch can lift Spurs with little or no pedigree to a champions League final, made Southampton competitive that their low-key players (Manè, Virgil, etc) were sold later for exorbitant prices and made bigger stars, trust me with Chelsea he'll do wonders...so if you claim to be a fan, hope for the best or stfu

  • @Aei He is not wrong. The current Chelsea squad is midtable level at best.

  • @Sputnik I beg to differ, this is a team not well blended but as clearly seen in the second half, prospects of what's to come showed.. with no European football, this team will be unbeatable!

  • @Aei That's exactly why I said the *current* squad. Pretty much only Thiago Silva, Badiashile, Enzo Fernandez and Nkunku are quality players. Yes, Caicedo will add quality, but the squad is far from finished and even farther from challenging for important trophies.

  • Chelsea won only 1 of their 20 EPL matches against top-half teams last season.

  • @Marbella That's a real juicy statistic.

  • 2-2

  • The smart bet is Liverpool win/draw and btts

  • Liverpool 5-0

  • 2-1 Chelsea
