Team News

Dundee United
Kilmarnock
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named two changes to the Terrors team after they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Tannadice to relegation rivals Ross County, before a 2-1 loss away at Livingston last weekend.
  • Charlie Mulgrew was sent off against St Johnstone so missed the match against the Staggies but was back for the trip to West Lothian. He replaced Ryan Edwards to join Loick Ayina at the back.
  • Dylan Levitt and Peter Pawlett were sat among the substitutes, two big boosts for United. However, Steven Fletcher was ruled out through injury as Glenn Middleton took his spot and United opted to change shape.
  • Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes named an unchanged Killie side after they claimed a 2-0 victory over Livingston at Rugby Park, before falling to a sole goal defeat to St Johnstone in East Ayrshire.
  • Lewis Mayo replaced Ash Taylor in the Killie back three, joining Luke Chambers and Joe Wright. Jeriel Dorsett replaced Alan Power as Killie shifted to a 4-4-2 as opposed to a 3-5-2. David Watson was sent off against Saints so will miss out here.
  • Rory McKenzie and Danny Armstrong, who sealed the deal against Livi, started on the flanks. In attack, Kyle Vassell - who opened the scoring against Livingston - joined Christian Doidge as Scott Robinson was sat among the substitutes.

Prediction

  • 12th hosts 10th in a huge basement battle in Dundee as United host Kilmarnock, the visitors three points clear ahead of the hosts ahead of this massive match.
  • The Terrors have lost three league games on the spin after previously appearing to hoist themselves to safety. Ultimately, there's been five cup finals to play and United have lost three so far. With their last match coming away at Fir Park against an in-form Motherwell, it's imperative that they grab all three points here to potentially move themselves off the bottom of the table.
  • However, Kilmarnock could take a big step towards another season in the Scottish Premiership if they were to leave Dundee with all three points. A victory over United, coupled with St Johnstone holding Ross County, and they could be in a great place before hosting the Highlanders at the weekend. Despite their woeful away record, they did win in the cup at Tannadice earlier this season.
  • These teams will meet for the sixth and final time this season. There's been one draw but Dundee United will hope to grab their second win of six and add fuel to the relegation fire.
