British media has been telling us about what a good job Gerrard is doing since he came, yet Villa finished with 55 points last season and they're at 45 points now. Balloon as a player and manager, City to destroy his title dreams for Liverpool as usual.
@Byakuya - Villa collected 10 points in the opening 11 matches with Smith (0,91/match). After Gerrard was appointed, they've garnered 35 in 26 matches (1,35/match). Are you blaming him for the bad start when he wasn't even there? Are you sure he's the balloon and not you?
@Byakuya - So he's supposed to immediately fix the team on the brink of the relegation zone, find chemistry without a pre-season to build it and collect more points even though Smith lost to the likes of Watford and Southampton and Gerrard still had 4 matches of Man City and Liverpool? Interesting idea for a mid-table team, tell me more!
@andrew7taylor You're trying to say that he would get over 60 points and sit on 6th spot if he had a pre-season? He got a team at 16th spot with 27 games ahead and finished as 14th, what a remarkable success.
@Byakuya - Nice strawman, I didn't say anything like that. But two can play that game. You're trying to say that he definitely wouldn't have any chance to improve upon Smith's results if he had a whole summer to build instead of being dropped into the team with confidences in the toilet after a 4-match losing run?
@andrew7taylor If not over 60 points, what improvement you're talking about? Last season 55 points, how many points he would get if had whole summer and other 11 games? I'm not trying to say, I'm directly saying that carrying a team from 16th to 14th with 27 games ahead has nothing special to talk about. All that hype and still mid-table team, let's see if he will get them to at least Conference League next season and then tell me about improvement.
@Byakuya You really can't see any improvement between 0,91 points/match and 1,35 p/m? Then go back to elementary school and sit your maths classes again. BTW, are you forgetting or deliberately ignoring that they've sold their best player by far, whom made last season's success possible?
@andrew7taylor You're saying that to a guy with finance degree, I'm sure you won't even be helpful to your child's math problems with this logic. You're comparing almost quarter of their games with the rest of whole season, you can't say he improved the team a lot with all that time in his hands especially after finishing in a worse position than last year. Best team not always win, but let's say Gerrard could've won those small games and he still wouldn't get over 60 points. Villa built a better squad in overall after Grealish, they had him when they finished with 35 points as well. Less than 40 points with this squad would be a failure, he did just OK and nothing extraordinary to make news which makes him a balloon.
@Byakuya - Sure you have a finance degree, and I'm the pope. Your clinging to "55 points last year!!!" and refusal to even consider context doesn't exactly earmark you as a thinker.
@andrew7taylor Prove that you're anything useful to society let even the pope and I'm sharing my full name so you can see, no problem. You're talking about a few games of bad start to a season and calling a whole year success, see you and your mid-table Villa at the end of the next season.
@FootballFanatics I can't see anywhere on my comment mentioning how good Ole is, meanwhile your beloved Gerrard just bottled a 2 goal lead in 5 minutes.
@Byakuya I am not a Liverpool fan. So I dont have any relation to Gerrard. "Gerrard, Balloon as a player and manager" which United player in the last 3 decade is a good coach? Bruce, Keane, Giggs, Gary Neville??? At least, Gerrard's Rangers win SPL.
My point is, you dont have to worry about Gerrard. Your beloved Man Utd is in a worst EPL record, you might want to give Ten Haag some advices.
@FootballFanatics Again, you're bringing up United with no relation at all to Gerrard. It doesn't change the fact that he got hyped for doing nothing special, you don't have to worry about Ten Hag as well.
@Alparslan I apologize for my comment. I didn't knew Villa gets 18 milion of bonus from City for Grealish if City wins PL this year. Congratulations City for the title! Smart move btw, I don't know if it was on purpose.
Last game I was calling Guardiola clueless for not using his subs especially like Gundogan and the guy is all over the social media, title could've been decided before all this drama.
@uefalona I fail to see the oil money comments as meaningful because it does not matter where money is sourced from as long as it is legal. As for using it to buy the league, City only spent money on Grealish last season and he was not a heavy contributor to this title win.
Well, I can’t quite believe how quickly a 2-0 lead was blown, but at the same time, it’s hard to argue against City just about deserving the title. It’s an era where both teams deserve it but sadly this is just what can happen.
@Rensen Stop it with the quadruple talk. It is impossible to do in a top 5 league. The only quadruple in history was done by Celtic and we all know the Scottish league is pretty Mickey Mouse.

@andrew7taylor 1,35 per match in 26 games so should be 51 in 38 games and that's still lower than last season, tell me more.

@Byakuya Ole better coach and player to Gerrard?

Do not panic City will still win. They will go all out attack 2nd half.Villa will try and park the bus.
@Rensen lol, this aged well and quick!
Will Gerard win his first PL title for Liverpool?
@Alparslan It's very important to note that it will be "for" and not "with".
@Alparslan I apologize for my comment. I didn't knew Villa gets 18 milion of bonus from City for Grealish if City wins PL this year. Congratulations City for the title! Smart move btw, I don't know if it was on purpose.
@Alparslan I can't find any reliable reporting on this, just a few articles misquoting Micah Richards. Sounds like bullshit.
@Alparslan Of course it was on purpose. It's nothing personal, it's just business.
@Alparslan Don`t you think Villa might get much higher bonus from Liverpool if City lose points and PL?
@tar88s Liverpool is not as rich as City and 18 mil is a lot of money.
@Alparslan He has already "done" that against Chelsea in 2014...
Man City 0-1 Aston Villa >> Gerrard Min "90"
City will destroy Villa 4-0.
Demolishing of Aston Vila by ManCity. 4-0
Last game I was calling Guardiola clueless for not using his subs especially like Gundogan and the guy is all over the social media, title could've been decided before all this drama.
Congrats City and maestro Pep, another fully deserved title. This is how leagues should be decided, on the last match of the season.
@GioMonaldo Fully deserved for using oil money to buy the league??
@uefalona I fail to see the oil money comments as meaningful because it does not matter where money is sourced from as long as it is legal. As for using it to buy the league, City only spent money on Grealish last season and he was not a heavy contributor to this title win.
@uefalona no, fully deserved bc they had the highest GD which is how the deserving winner is decided imo.
Man City to score over 2.5 goals @1.66
6-1 city
Well, I can’t quite believe how quickly a 2-0 lead was blown, but at the same time, it’s hard to argue against City just about deserving the title. It’s an era where both teams deserve it but sadly this is just what can happen.
City will win 2-0
1-1 Draw. Statue of Gerrard to be erected at Anfield
Oops
Fans on the pitch yet again.City PL champions :)
They can't even hold onto a 2 goal lead with less than a quarter of the match to go. So bad.
Oh I spoke too soon.
lmao City.
Wow, maybe Liverpool DID offered some Cash to Aston Villa...
Man City win and over 2.5 match goals.
Look how Gerard lifted Glasgow up, means he is a good trainer. I also have slight hope that Coutinho will do sth. for his ex club.
@Alparslan yep, what a class, wonder what happened to him in Barca
@Alparslan He helped destroy Barca xD
Over 3.5 goals.
I'm putting my house on a City Win!
0-0
De Bruyne should have been the MoTM.
Two horse race Huh
They will also have Julián Álvarez who was also a great signing for City for next season.
If City can keep Haaland fit next season then they have a good chance of the quadruple. :)
@Rensen Stop it with the quadruple talk. It is impossible to do in a top 5 league. The only quadruple in history was done by Celtic and we all know the Scottish league is pretty Mickey Mouse.
@splint3r Hardly Impossible. Liverpool was minutes from the league title and they are clear favourites against Real Madrid in the CL-final.
@Apanage 1) They are not *clear* favourites. 2) Real Madrid will win the CL easily.
@splint3r - True, except Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG, Man U and Man City have all done it recently...
@andrew7taylor No, they did not. I'm pretty sure you don't know what "quadruple" actually means.
Jesus to score anytime.
I would be shocked if Pep doesn`t sign Ibra next season.
