Tottenham
Southampton
- Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho on Monday morning and have put 29-year-old Ryan Mason in charge for the remainder of the season.
- Changes are expected by Mason given Tottenham face Manchester City in the League Cup final this coming weekend.
- Harry Kane limped off at the end of Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Everton on Friday night and will be assessed, though with the Carabao Cup on Sunday, he may not be risked.
- James Ward-Prowse, Danny Ings and Theo Walcott were all fit to start against Burnley last weekend.
- Takumi Minamino wasn't deemed fit enough to start after his excursions with Japan during the international break but come into Ralph Hasenhuttl's thinking here.
- Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings both scored and assisted against Burnley so there is no reason to drop either, meaning Che Adams will likely be benched again here.
To be fair Tottenham have just been relegated from the ESL after almost 24hrs unbroken run. This may be on their minds now...
Half time. Maybe I'm being premature, but here's another of the Dirty Dozen clubs failing after the event.
@tinyclaw yes, you were premature. Tottenham finished strongly.
0:2 Southampton
home win
1X and both to score.
Spurs are in a battle with Bayern Munich for Julian Nagelsmann.
@Rensen i doubt he'd prefer spurs over bayern
The Tottenham players may have one eye on Sunday whereas Southampton will have pick up themselves up from their FA Cup exit. Also it'll be interesting to see how the Tottenham players respond after José's departure. Will they play with more freedom and confidence or continue to look disorganised and stale ? Home advantage could be the difference. Tottenham 1-0 Southampton
