Team News

Belgrano
Godoy Cruz
  • Joaquin Novillo's red card and the suspensions of Juan Quiroga and Tomás Guidara force Belgrano to start Matias Nani, Christian Almeida and Juan Patiño in the back four.
  • Diego Mendoza and Mauricio Cuero are expected to drop out and so Juan Brunetta and Gonzalo Lencina could form the attack.
  • Federico Lertora anchors an unchanged midfield after the defeat to Lanus.
  • Ivan Ramis and Miguel Merentiel both scored in the win over Patronato last week and will continue up front in Cordoba.
  • Fabian Henriquez will provide some experience in midfield in an otherwise much changed line up.
  • Luciano Abecasis the only regular starter in an inexperienced back four.

Prediction

  • Last time in Cordoba, Belgrano beat Patronato to breathe life into their survival bid, but after back-to-back defeats, El Pirata are now on the brink of relegation. Only a win will do and even then results must go their way to ensure a stay in the top flight.
  • Godoy Cruz did Belgrano a favour by beating Patronato last week and with El Tomba in between crucial Copa Libertadores games, the visitors will be understrength in Cordoba. Manager Lucas Bernardi is one of the many errors that Belgrano made over the past couple of years and El Pirata must beat their former boss if they are to stay up.
  • Belgrano's last home game was a thumping win over Patronato and despite suffering two defeats on the road since, El Pirata might well have enough to beat Godoy Cruz. The bigger question is whether that would be enough to keep Belgrano up.
