Team News

Velez Sarsfield
Lanus
  • Hernan de la Fuente's yellow card against Independiente sees the right-back suspended and could lead to midfielder Pablo Galdames filling in.
  • Leandro Fernandez scored last week and continues leading the attack with Agustin Bout and Matias Vargas either side.
  • Gaston Gimenez anchors the midfield partnering Nicolas Dominguez in the middle.
  • Luis Zubeldía could name an unchanged side to the one that defeated Belgrano last week.
  • Jose Sand scored once again and will continue up front with Lautaro Acosta.
  • Marcelino Moreno's wait for a goal finally ended and he continues in midfield as Jose Luis Gomez gets another rare start on the right.

Prediction

  • Velez may have missed out on Copa Libertadores, but a place in the Sudamericana already confirmed is to be celebrated as not too long ago, the club were worrying about relegation. Gabriel Heinze's side have had an impressive campaign and lost only twice in Liniers.
  • The turnaround in the second half of the season from Lanus has been impressive and while Zubeldía deserves credit for that, the return of Pepe Sand has been instrumental. The veteran provides the goals and focal point to the attack that was sorely lacking and El Granate now have some one to win them games.
  • Sand's goals or not, Velez will be favourites in Liniers and aiming to finish the season on a high.
