Team News

River Plate
Tigre
  • In between vital Copa Libertadores fixtures, River will likely rotate once more to not risk key players; Leonardo Ponzio is expected to be one of the experienced players to start.
  • With Franco Armani injured, Enrique Bologna may start, but Gallardo has a choice between him, German Lux or youngster Ezequiel Centurion.
  • Jorge Carrascal could be in line for a start if Gallardo opts not to risk the likes of Ignacio Fernandez.
  • Nestor Gorosito could name an unchanged side after last week's draw with Racing.
  • Lucas Rodriguez scored late on to snatch a point and will continue at left back with Martin Galmarini opposite.
  • The front three of Walter Montillo, Lucas Janson and Federico Gonzalez will start looking for the goals to save Tigre.

Prediction

  • Five straight wins have all but confirmed River's place in the 2020 Copa Libertadores and with a poor start in this year's competition, Los Millonarios will likely sacrifice use this league game to rest. Avoiding a seriously heavy defeat would be enough for River so the Millonarios should be safe either way.
  • Only a win will do and even that might not be enough which would be tough on Tigre, who in the past couple of months have been terrific. El Matador are pushing for a Copa Sudamericana place, but such is the nature of the relegation system that the club could still drop into the Nacional B.
  • River, with focus elsewhere against an in-form Tigre, may well end in a share of the points and that wouldn't be enough for the visitors to stay up.
