The International Break so far

Denmark are looking to bounce back after opening up their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Belgium. They showed great intensity but conceded early to Lyon defender Jason Denayer and late on to Napoli veteran Dries Mertens.

England, meanwhile, got off to a winning start at the expense of Iceland with a narrow 1-0 victory. The Three Lions were fortunate, however. Iceland had the chance to rescue a point in stoppage time but former Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason blazed over a spot-kick just moments after Raheem Sterling converted his penalty. England had earlier been reduced to 10 men after Kyle Walker picked up two needless bookings.

Team News

Denmark have a relatively settled squad and no withdrawls since Andreas Skov Olsen was forced to pull out ahead of their opening game with Belgium. Former Cardiff striker Andreas Cornelius and Huddersfield centre-back Zanka are pushing for starts here, while Joakim Maehle Pedersen is also an option at full-back. Tottenham past and present in Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will line up against England, as will Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

Gareth Southgate has endured a week to forget as England manager. He was forced to remove Harry Maguire from the squad at the start of the break after his arrest in Greece and then send young duo Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood home after they broke the bio-secure bubble by inviting girls back to the team's hotel after their win over Iceland. Harry Winks and Marcus Rashford had to withdraw from the squad through injury and now Kyle Walker is suspended. Wholesale changes are planned against Denmark by Southgate in terms of shape and personnel, with Conor Coady and Kalvin Phillips set for their England debuts from the start. Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold will return to the side, with Jordan Pickford set to keep his place in goal.

This UEFA Nations League match takes place nearly 800 miles away but there will be an element of London rivalry when Denmark face England on Tuesday night. New Tottenham signing Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg will be out to impress against familiar faces and will be tasked with stopping the supply into England's star-studded front three. The 25-year-old won possession more times than any other player in the Premier League last season (181), suggesting he is up to the task.

Carrying out a similar role for England is West Ham's Declan Rice. The 21-year-old didn't miss a minute of Premier League action for the Hammers last term and is set to retain his place in midfield for Gareth Southgate's side here. Rice's main responsibility will be keeping ex-Tottenham creator Christian Eriksen as quiet as possible. Eriksen has endured a nightmare nine months since leaving Tottenham for Inter but facing familiar opponents may help him rediscover his best form. Whoever does a better job out of Hojbjerg and Rice will play a major role in determining the outcome of this UEFA Nations League match.
