Yahoo! Fantasy Football: The most in form Premier League performers

Here, we run down the top performers last week in all positions and whether it would be worth keeping with the players ahead of the next round of fixtures.

Goalkeepers 

5. Tom Heaton (Burnley – Points earned 12.5) 

4. Hugo Lloris (Tottenham – Points earned 13) 

3. Wayne Hennessey (Crystal Palace – Points earned 14.5) 

Crystal Palace earned a 3-0 win over Arsenal on Monday and against a Leicester side with one eye on next week’s Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid, Wayne Hennessey could be a cost-effective pickup this week. 

2. Sergio Romero (Manchester United – Points earned 16) 

Manchester United were unlikely to concede at Sunderland and Sergio Romero earned himself 16 points with Yahoo! Fantasy Football in a rare league appearance. However, manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed David De Gea will start against Chelsea, so best to avoid this week. 

1. Fraser Forster (Southampton – Points earned 17) 

The top scoring goalkeeper came in the gargantuan form of Fraser Forster following his clean sheet at West Brom. Saints host Manchester City on Saturday, however, and with Forster’s form indifferent this season, he may be one to leave out. 

Defenders 

10. Aleksandar Kolarov (Manchester City – Points earned 8.1) 

9. Ben Gibson (Middlesbrough – Points earned 8.2)  

8. Ben Mee (Burnley – Points earned 8.3) 

7. Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham – Points earned 8.5) 

6. John Stones (Manchester City – Points earned 10) 

5. Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough – Points earned 10)

4. Andrea Ranocchia (Hull – Points earned 12.3) 

3. Kieran Trippier (Tottenham – Points earned 12.6) 

Kieran Trippier may have excelled against Watford last weekend, but he is expected to drop to the bench against Bournemouth in place of Kyle Walker. He performed well last week, however it's best to look elsewhere this time around.  

2. Marcos Alonso (Chelsea – Points earned 15.7) 

One of the most picked defenders and for good reason, with Marcos Alonso earning 15.7 points last week. He will have his defensive credentials put to the test against Manchester United, but the Spaniard is vital to Chelsea and while expensive, is a handy pick up considering his influence. 

1. Phil Jagielka (Everton – Points earned 20.5) 

Only 10.68% of users picked Phil Jagielka last week and those reaped the rewards, with the Everton centre-back earning a whopping 20.5 points. He isn’t the most expensive defender in the game and with the Toffees at home to a blunt Burnley side, Jagielka is well worth bringing in this week. 

Midfielders 

10. Yohan Cabaye (Crystal Palace – Points earned 14.1) 

9. Marc Albrighton (Leicester – Points earned 14.3) 

8. Luka Milivojevic (Crystal Palace – Points earned 14.4) 

7. Eden Hazard (Chelsea – Points earned 14.7) 

6. Eric Dier (Tottenham – Points earned 15.3) 

5. Dele Alli (Tottenham – Points earned 15.6) 

4. Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool – Points earned 17.5) 

3. Andros Townsend (Crystal Palace – Points earned 17.8) 

Andros Townsend played a key role in Crystal Palace’s 3-0 win over Arsenal, netting the opener and winning the penalty to send Palace into an unassailable lead on Monday night. 

2. Fabian Delph (Manchester City – Points earned 19.3) 

After struggling with injuries, Fabian Delph has started Manchester City’s last two league games and netted last time out. While it remains to be seen whether Pep Guardiola will continue with the former Villa man, he’s a cheap acquisition if required. 

1. Son Heung-min (Tottenham – Points earned 31.4) 

Son Heung-min earned more points (31.4) than any other player in the most recent gameweek on Yahoo! Fantasy Football and as a midfielder, he frees up extra space for strikers. Could be another worthy signing this week 

Forwards

10. Andre Ayew (West Ham – Points earned 9.6) 

9. Salomon Rondon (West Brom Points earned 10.1) 

8. Islam Slimani (Leicester – Points earned 11.3) 

7. Jonathan Walters (Stoke – Points earned 11.6) 

6. Marcus Rashford (Manchester United – Points earned 12) 

5. Roberto Firmino (Liverpool – Points earned 14.3) 

4. Sergio Aguero (Manchester City – Points earned 15.6) 

3. Josh King (Bournemouth – Points earned 16.1) 

Josh King maintained his fine goalscoring form at Chelsea’s expense last weekend and with eight of his 13 league goals scored away from home, he’ll be confident of continuing that good run on Saturday, even at Tottenham. 

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United – Points earned 18.6) 

The PFA Player of the Year nominee has been in good form following his return from suspension, with two goals and one assist against Everton and Sunderland. He’s expensive, but 18.6 points last week is a fine return.

1. Romelu Lukaku (Everton – Points earned 23.7)

While Romelu Lukaku is an expensive striker in the game, he is expected to add to his 23 league goals this season when Burnley make the trip to Goodison Park. 23.7 points on Yahoo! Fantasy Football was a fine return; back him to match, if not better, that figure this weekend.
