Fantasy Football Tips for Gameweek 10 in the Premier League

For those that followed the tipster in transferring in Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri last weekend you would have been jubilant following his brace in a 2-0 win over Hull. The tipster is now focused on finding another gem ahead of the gameweek 10 in the Premier League. As per usual, the fixtures have been examined and here are some tips that could hopefully make the difference against your friends.

DELE ALLI (TOTTENHAM)

Dele Alli thinks he should already be in double figures for goals this season and he’s probably right. He’s been guilty of missing some chances when it looked easier to score. Nevertheless, only Heung-Min Son (4) has scored more goals for Tottenham in the league this season than Alli (3).

To expand that further, since the start of last season Alli has scored more goals than any other player aged 21 and under in Europe’s top five leagues (13). Tottenham have failed to win any of their last four matches, drawing three of those and failing to score in two, but they should be confident of returning to winning ways against the reigning champions on Saturday.

Leicester have lost all four of their matches away from home in the league this season and conceded at least three goals in three of those. Alli has scored two of the last three goals Tottenham have scored, and with Harry Kane still a question mark this weekend, the onus could be on the 20-year-old once more on Saturday.

JOSHUA KING (BOURNEMOUTH)

Bournemouth’s resurgence has quietly gone under the radar in the last month. After a troubled start to their second season in the Premier League, Eddie Howe’s men have now gone four matches unbeaten. Last time out they even became the first team to prevent Tottenham from scoring in the Premier League since March, and had they been more clinical in front of goal, they could have inflicted Tottenham’s first league defeat since the end of last season.

Howe’s side will now be aiming to go five games without defeat for the first time in their short Premier League history. In order to do so, they may be looking for their all-time record goalscorer in England’s top-flight to come to the fore once again. Joshua King couldn’t forge a career at Manchester United but has shown flashes of his potential at Bournemouth since the start of last season.

Bournemouth’s away form isn’t as good as their record at the Vitality Stadium, but King has scored two of their last three away league goals. He, like Callum Wilson, will be charged with the task of punishing Middlesbrough’s defence on Saturday. Boro have failed to win any of their last eight matches in all competitions, which should give confidence to King and his teammates.

Fantasy Football Tips for Gameweek 10 in the Premier League

ANTONIO VALENCIA (MANCHESTER UNITED)

Manchester United have lacked invention under Jose Mourinho and have heavily relied on the width Antonio Valencia has provided from right-back as one of their main attacking outlets so far this season. Spreading the play out to the 31-year-old for him to power down the right before attempting to pick out Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been a fixture of United’s attacks this season and should be a regular occurrence in their match at home to Burnley on Saturday.

In fact, no defender has completed more accurate crosses in the Premier League this season than Valencia (12) and United have utilised the right hand side of the pitch in the league at Old Trafford more than any third thus far (38%). Furthermore, only Paul Pogba (89) and Ander Herrera (80.6) are averaging more touches of the ball for United in the league this season than Valencia (79).

The Ecuador international is one of United’s most involved players in matches and provides excellent opportunities for fantasy football points, particularly with a striker of Ibrahimovic’s calibre in the middle. United’s No.9 has struggled of late, but is a monster in the air. Mourinho’s side should also be looking at their fixture against Burnley as one they should be keeping a clean sheet in.

JOSE HOLEBAS (WATFORD)

The 32-year-old struggled to establish himself at Watford last season in what was his first campaign following a switch from Roma, but has been given a new lease of life under Walter Mazzarri this season. Jose Holebas has played a direct hand in two of Watford’s last three goals and is in with a good chance of finishing October as WhoScored's highest rated Premier League player (8.25), with only Winston Reid (8.36) ahead of him as the last round of October fixtures nears.

As Mazzarri likes to use a three-man defence, Holebas has been given greater responsibility further up the pitch. In fact, only Eden Hazard (10) has won possession in the attacking third of the pitch more than Holebas (9) this season, which means Watford are able to spring attacks close to their opponents goal, increasing their chances of scoring.

Watford are currently three matches unbeaten and have kept a clean sheet in their last two. The Hornets host a struggling Hull side that have lost each of their last five in the Premier League on Saturday and are sinking fast. Watford haven’t won on home soil since overcoming Manchester United 3-1 midway through September but are set to give their fans something to cheer about when they entertain Mike Phelan’s side this weekend, with Holebas expected to be at the heart of that.
