Onana leads Man Utd quartet in Premier League Team of the Week
Manchester United are the dominant side in the Premier League team of the week from gameweek 13 with four representatives. Elsewhere, players from Luton, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brighton and Nottingham Forest all make the cut.
Andre Onana (Manchester United) - 8.64
Summer signing Andre Onana registered his highest rated performance of the season in Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Everton on Sunday. The 27-year-old made a total of six saves to help Erik ten Hag’s side to a third successive Premier League clean win, and saw his individual rating for the season increase to 6.96, making him the division’s highest rated shotstopper.
Diogo Dalot (Manchester United) - 8.15
Onana’s United teammate Diogo Dalot also recorded his best performance so far this term at Goodison Park, as he provided the assist for Alejandro Garnacho’s sensational overhead kick after just three minutes. Dalot also made a total of six tackles and interceptions combined, as well as two clearances, a block and three key passes to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.15.
Former United defender Teden Mengi played a pivotal role as Luton picked up their second Premier League victory of the season. The 21-year-old put the home side ahead after 72 minutes, and also contributed defensively with four tackles and interceptions combined, 10 clearances and a block to land a WhoScored rating of 7.82.
Pau Torres (Aston Villa) - 8.11
Spanish defender Pau Torres grabbed his second Premier League goal as Unai Emery’s Aston Villa came from behind to secure all three points at Tottenham on Sunday afternoon. Along with his goal, Torres made a tackle, an interception, two clearances and two successful dribbles to return a WhoScored rating of 8.11, his best of the season so far.
Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal) - 7.74
Ukraine international Oleksandr Zinchenko makes it into this week’s Premier League best XI after Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Brentford on Saturday evening. Zinchenko made a total of two key passes, one tackle, one interception and recorded a pass success rate of 93.3% on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.74.
Justin Kluivert (Bournemouth) - 8.29
24-year-old attacker Justin Kluivert netted his first Premier League goal in Bournemouth’s 3-1 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday, and went on to record his highest rated performance of the season so far with a WhoScored rating of 8.29. Kluivert, who joined the Cherries in the summer, also made a total of two tackles and two successful dribbles as Andoni Iraola’s side cruised to victory.
Pascal Gross (Brighton) - 8.28
Veteran Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross continues to show his class and longevity under Roberto De Zerbi, and picked up his fifth and sixth goal contributions of the season at the weekend with two assists in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest. Gross also made a total of two tackles, two clearances and six key passes at the City Ground to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.28.
Bruno Fernandes (Man United) - 8.03
United captain Bruno Fernandes made it four goal contributions in his last five Premier League matches with the assist for Anthony Martial’s second half goal at Goodison Park on Sunday. Fernandes chipped in defensively, too, with four tackles and interceptions combined, while he also made a total of three key passes to record a WhoScored rating of 8.03.
Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) - 8.85
Despite eventual defeat at the hands of Brighton, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White recorded his highest rated performance so far this season. The 23-year-old provided the assist for Anthony Elanga’s early opener, before converting from the penalty spot after 76 minutes. Gibbs-White also made a total of four key passes and completed three successful dribbles to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.85.
Anthony Martial (Man United) - 8.16
France international Anthony Martial made just his third Premier League start of the season at Everton on Sunday, and rounded off his performance with a well-taken goal to put the game out of sight for the visitors. Along with his goal, Martial completed one successful dribble and was fouled twice on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.16.
Marcus Tavernier (Bournemouth) - 9.05
With a WhoScored rating of 9.05, Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier is the Premier League player of the week. Tavernier opened the scoring for the Cherries after 12 minutes, before adding his second, and his side’s third, shortly after half time. Tavernier also made three key passes and completed one successful dribble in what was by far his best display of the season so far.
