Fanteam Fantasy Football squad selected for 2019/20 Premier League season
We are only a few hours away from the start of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign but do not fear. Fanteam offer users the chance to enter their squads up to 10 seconds before each gameweek deadline, so you still have plenty of time.
Think you have what it takes to win a slice of the guaranteed €250,000 prize pool? Then sign up and enter here! Fanteam will pay out up to 1250 places, as well as offering weekly and monthly cash prizes. Now, here is our XI for the start of the season and it’s very attack-heavy.
Goalkeepers: Alisson (6M) and Dean Henderson (4M)
Liverpool ace Alisson kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League last season (21) and it seems a no brainer to go with the Brazilian here. In order to free up cash, we have selected Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson as back-up, though he is unlikely to ever make our starting XI.
Defenders: Serge Aurier (5M), Kurt Zouma (5M), Craig Cathcart (4.5M), Jan Bednarek (4.5M) and Adam Webster (4.5M)
We have spent most of our budget in attack, so it has left us short of any real recognised defenders. Ideally you’d like to get the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson in your team, who both registered at least 10 assists in the league in 2018/19, but we believe our greater chance of success on FanTeam is stacking our squad with good midfielders and forwards.
Now that Kieran Trippier has left Tottenham and Juan Foyth is set for a short spell out injured, there is suddenly an opportunity for either Serge Aurier or Kyle Walker-Peters to start the season. Given the likelihood that Tottenham will keep a lot of clean sheets this season, it’s a good option.
Midfield: Sadio Mane (11.5M), James Maddison (7M), Kevin de Bruyne (9.5M), Daniel James (6M) and Dani Ceballos (6M)
Here is where we are really looking to pick up some points. Sadio Mane is expected to make an early return to Liverpool action in their opener against Norwich despite participating at this summers Africa Cup of Nations. Mane finished last season the Premier League’s joint top scorer (22 goals).
James Maddison enjoyed a thoroughly impressive debut campaign for Leicester last season, registering more key passes than any other player in the Premier League (100). Kevin De Bruyne would usually be in and around that figure but last season was a complete nightmare for the Manchester City midfielder and he will be desperate to make up for lost time now he is fully fit again.
Daniel James and Dani Ceballos are both cheap options that are expected to get a lot of game time at two top-six sides this season. James showed a lot of promise during Manchester United’s pre-season tour, while Dani Ceballos move to Arsenal from Real Madrid was a real coup for the Gunners. As the 23-year-old showed at the U21 European Championships this summer, he is a classy player.
Forwards: Harry Kane (11M), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11M) and Mason Greenwood (4.5M)
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was one of the players to finish level with Sadio Mane on 22 Premier League goals last season and now Arsenal have added even greater creativity to their ranks in Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos for the new campaign. He should be even more prolific.
Harry Kane, meanwhile, will hope to stay injury free this season after being limited to just 27 league starts last term. The England captain has scored at least 20 goals in four of the last five Premier League campaigns.
Even though we had to scrape the barrel for a third striker with only 4.5M to spend, Mason Greenwood is actually a decent option to have. Now that Romelu Lukaku has left Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists the 17-year-old will get a lot of playing time this season.
