Champions League Tipster: Midweek European goalscorer bets
The Champions League returns this week, so so too does our tipster, this time picking out four goalscorer bets to consider.
Monaco vs Porto - match preview
There’s no question where the spotlight will be pointed in this one. Monaco skipper Falcao has not only started the season in sensational form - leading the scoring charts in the Europe’s top 5 leagues with 11 - but made a name for himself on the continent with the visitors. The Colombian scored 10 goals en route to the Europa League final with the Portuguese giants in 2011, scoring the winner in the final.
There is, however, very little value in ‘El Tigre’ coming back to haunt his former club in the any time scorer market, at 1.53, so instead a dip into the multi scorer market is a decent bet. The Monaco hitman has scored two or more goals in four matches already this season and is at 3.10 to do so once again.
Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid - match preview
There’s little doubt as to the marquee match from Tuesday night’s fixtures, with Dortmund and Madrid reigniting what is becoming something of a Champions League rivalry. The two have met eight times in the competition since the turn of the decade, with no away wins for either side in that time. The two met in the group stages last season too, with both matches ending in 2-2 draws.
There was another theme when the two met last year as well, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the scoresheet in both fixtures. He enters the game with los blancos having scored six goals in his last three matches, including a hat-trick at the weekend, and is at 1.66 to score at any time.
Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea - match preview
Much of the talk ahead of Wednesday’s meeting between Atletico and Chelsea will revolve around a player that won’t even be on the pitch. Diego Costa has agreed a deal to rejoin the Spanish side in January and would no doubt love his old pals in Madrid to get one over on what is still his current club.
Without him until the New Year, Antoine Griezmann is likely to be partnered by Angel Correa up front but neither are overly prolific. The same can’t be said of Alvaro Morata, who returns to the capital hoping to get one over on an old rival having made a blistering start to his Blues career. The former Real Madrid hitman has six goals to his name already this season and is out at 3.00 to add to that tally at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
PSG vs Bayern Munich - match preview
Arguably the biggest game on Wednesday, both PSG and Bayern are hoping to bounce back from disappointing draws at the weekend. The hosts should have Neymar back available to line-up alongside Cavani and Mbappe once more, and all three will be confident of making the breakthrough in the absence of Neuer in the Bayern game.
The odds on the teenager to get on the scoresheet at 2.20 are considerably greater than those of his attacking teammates, which is curious given his record in Europe. Mbappe has started 7 Champions League matches, scoring 7 goals and only failing to find the net in one of said outings.
