Fanteam Fantasy Football: Southampton primed for another heavy Premier League defeat
After succumbing to a Premier League record-equalling defeat at home to Leicester, the last thing Southampton would have wanted is to play away to Manchester City not once, but twice in the space of five days. Southampton fell to a 3-1 defeat to a weakened City side in the first match but on this occasion Pep Guardiola will name his strongest available XI and you have to fear for Southampton's chances on Saturday.
With that in mind, you should really be looking to get City's big hitters into your Fanteam Fantasy Football teams this weekend. There should be major points on offer for them this weekend and the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne should be at the top of your wishlist.
Before we reveal our tips and XI for gameweek 11, we must first make you aware of the free-to-play contest on Fanteam Fantasy Football this weekend. Available for new users or those that have been registered on the platform for less than eight weeks, you can try your hand on Fanteam Fantasy Football for free and still have a chance of winning some money. The rules are the same as the weekly monster contest but the free roll game gives you the chance to familiarise yourself with the platform with no risks attached.
Raul Jimenez (Wolves) - 6.8M
Wolves are unbeaten in their last five league games heading into Saturday's trip to Arsenal and they can certainly take of advantage of the chaos the Gunners are currently engulfed in. Wolves have a tremendous record against the top-six sides since the beginning of last season and have alway won away to defending champions Manchester City this term.
Nuno's side were unbeaten home and away against Arsenal last season and have the players to trouble Unai Emery's side once again on Saturday. Raul Jimenez has played a direct hand in four goals in his last four appearances in all competitions (two goals, two assists).
Willian (Chelsea) - 11.9M
Frank Lampard will point to Wednesday's defeat at home to Manchester United as a blip. You cannot win every game and Chelsea had won their previous seven in a row prior to welcoming United at Stamford Bridge. In fairness to Chelsea, Lampard played a much-changed team compared to United. Away to Watford this weekend, the Chelsea head coach will play his strongest available XI. That will see Willian return to the frame after being given midweek off.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic have dominated the headlines for Chelsea this season and are expected to be the club's first-choice wingers for years to come but at the moment it is Willian that is out-performing both, albeit Pulisic scored a hat-trick last weekend. Willian, however, has turned in solid performances in his last four league outings. His lowest WhoScored rating in that time is 7.88, coming in their 1-0 win over Newcastle.
The Brazil international has played a direct hand in four goals in his last four league appearances and will hope to build on that when Chelsea make the trip to bottom-side Watford. The Hornets have improved at the back in recent weeks but haven't won any of their opening 10 league matches.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 14.6M
As we have already touched on, Southampton supporters must be fearing another spanking when they travel to City for the second time in less than a week on Saturday. Saints turned in a spirited display at the Etihad in midweek following their 9-0 defeat to Leicester but now they will have to contend with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.
Both players have started the season in sensational fashion. Sterling has played a direct hand in eight goals in nine league appearances, while De Bruyne has history in sight this weekend. The quickest player to rack up double-digit assists required his club's first 12 league games of the season and De Bruyne has nine assists in City's opening 10 matches.
