Perfect Alvarez leads FA Cup team of the round dominated by Man City
Manchester City are the dominant side in the FA Cup team of the round, with six players making the cut following their 6-0 win over Burnley. Brighton and Sheffield United are also represented, but there isn't any space for any Manchester United players, with Bruno Fernandes the closest to featuring.
Stefan Ortega (Manchester City) - 7.71
The first of six Manchester City players to make the side, City may have blown Burnley away on Saturday evening, but that's not to say it was all plain sailing for the defending Premier League champions. Stefan Ortega was on hand to make three saves where needed to ensure the clean sheet and the 30-year-old a WhoScored rating of 7.71.
Brighton have three players make the team of the round following their 5-0 win over Grimsby at the AMEX on Sunday. Pascal Groß put in a solid shift from right-back for the Seagulls, as noted by a WhoScored rating of 8.10. The German registered an assist in the quarter-final victory, that for Kaoru Mitoma's late goal from one of five key passes overall. Groß also made one tackle and completed one dribble to make the XI.
Kyle Walker (Manchester City) - 7.98
Kyle Walker features at the heart of the defence following his resolute display against Burnley on Saturday. The 32-year-old held firm at the back to repel the Clarets attack, making four interceptions, one tackle and one clearance, as Walker returned a WhoScored rating of 7.98.
Adam Webster (Brighton) - 8.56
Joining Walker at the heart of the defence, Adam Webster was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet against Grimsby on Sunday as he struck the woodwork with one of two efforts at the AMEX. Webster did register an assist in Brighton's 5-0 victory, providing for Solly March in the 82nd minute as he returned a WhoScored rating of 8.56.
Max Lowe (Sheffield United) - 7.66
Rounding off the defence is the first of two Sheffield United representatives. Max Lowe impressed from left wing-back in the Blades 3-2 win over Blackburn, providing the assist for Oliver McBurnie's equaliser, that coming from his only key pass. Lowe got forward well when needed, completing two dribbles, and was defensively sound as he made three tackles and two interceptions to feature with a WhoScored rating of 7.66.
Solly March scored for the third game running in Brighton's win over Grimsby on Sunday, finding the back of the net with one of two efforts on goal at the weekend. March was unfortunate not to grab an assist having made four key passes, while additional returns of three dribbles and two tackles meant he was good value for a WhoScored rating of 8.78.
Tommy Doyle (Sheffield United) - 9.36
The second Sheffield United player in the side, Tommy Doyle scored a superb late winner over Blackburn at Bramall Lane on Sunday, finding a way past Aynsley Pears with one of three shots. The on-loan midfielder warrants his inclusion in the XI with a WhoScored rating of 9.36 having completed five dribbles, made four tackles and three key passes in the 3-2 victory.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - 8.96
Linking up with Doyle in the middle of the park is Manchester City creator-in-chief Kevin De Bruyne. While the Belgian has not been at his best in recent weeks, De Bruyne registered a pair of assists for Julian Alvarez against Burnley on Saturday, those coming from three key passes overall. The 31-year-old worked hard off the ball, too, as he made three tackles to return a WhoScored rating of 8.96.
Phil Foden (Manchester City) - 8.73
We stick with Manchester City for the remainder of the FA Cup team of the round as Phil Foden rounds off the midfield. Foden provided the assist for Erling Haaland's second goal against Burnley, that coming from one of two key passes. Foden also won the two aerial duels he contested, and that contributed towards his inclusion with a WhoScored rating of 8.73.
Julian Alvarez (Manchester City) - 10.0
With a perfect WhoScored 10 rating, Julian Alvarez is the FA Cup player of the round. Alvarez was directly involved in three of the six Manchester City goals on Saturday, scoring twice and providing one assist, that coming for Haaland's opener. Three is the magic number for the Argentine, who made three key passes, three tackles and completed three dribbles in a memorable display from the World Cup winner.
Erling Haaland (Manchester City) - 9.85
Having bagged his sixth hat-trick of the season on Saturday, Erling Haaland partners Alvarez up top. The Manchester City goal machine hit the back of the net with three of five shots at the Etihad Stadium and he won all four aerial duels he contested to help land a WhoScored rating of 9.85.
