Five-star Eintracht the leading light in Euro best XI

 

Lionel Messi earned his 10th WhoScored LaLiga man of the match award of the season as he joined Jadon Sancho on double figures for goals and assists in Barcelona's 3-2 win over Real Betis. However, it is five-star Eintracht Frankfurt who dominate the European team of the week as they put Augsburg to the sword on Friday night to extend their unbeaten league run to four games.

Freiburg moved to within one point of Hoffenheim at the weekend with a 1-0 win over their Bundesliga counterparts. Gian-Luca Waldschmidt's first half penalty may have been the difference between the two sides, yet it was Alexander Schwolow's fine showing between the Freiburg sticks that ensured all three points. The 25-year-old netted his first league goal of the season in the victory and went on to make five clearances, three interceptions and one tackle. Roma may have fallen to a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Bologna on Friday night, but Aleksandar Kolarov was one who could trudge off the Olimpico pitch with his head held high. The Serbian made five tackles, five clearances and three interceptions in the loss as he dealt with goal threats down his side of the pitch with ease. He also gave his all in Roma's efforts to haul themselves back into the game as he made four key passes, two successful dribbles and had two shots to help gain a WhoScored rating of 8.88.

On just his eighth league start of the season, Timothy Chandler doubled his goal tally for the season as he struck twice in Eintracht Frankfurt's 5-0 win over Augsburg. The 29-year-old's four league goals of the campaign have come in his last four appearances with his brace on Friday night coming from three shots.
