WhoScored's Premier League Team of the Week: Chelsea trio shine in Aston Villa win
Gameweek 13 in the Premier League is done and dusted, and here we’re taking a look at the standout performers from the weekend.
Represented in our Team of the Week are Chelsea, Manchester United, Brentford, Brighton, Arsenal and Bournemouth.
Robert Sánchez (Chelsea) - 7.47
Chelsea made it six matches unbeaten in all competitions as they cruised past a troubled Aston Villa side at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was in fine form, producing three saves, while also making four keeper sweepings, nine throws and 13 ball recoveries, for a WhoScored rating of 7.47.
Amad (Manchester United) - 9.17
Manchester United were also comfortable victors on Sunday, putting four past Everton to secure the first Premier League win under new boss Ruben Amorim. One player benefitting from the new system is Amad, who has now provided three assists in two league games as a right wing-back. Against the Toffees, the 22-year-old made three key passes, four successful dribbles and four tackles, to return a WhoScored rating of 9.17.
Nathan Collins (Brentford) - 8.45
Brentford kept up their remarkable home form this season, sealing yet another victory at the Gtech Community Stadium, this time against Leicester. Bees defender Nathan Collins earns a place in our XI having provided the assist for the hosts’ fourth goal of the afternoon, while he also completed two successful dribbles, made two tackles, five clearances and won 11 of his 16 duels.
Chelsea’s Levi Colwill joins Collins at the back, having helped the Blues to only a third clean sheet of the season in the Premier League. Against Aston Villa, the 21-year-old completed 101 of the 109 passes he attempted, while also making two tackles, three blocks and one goal line clearance, for a WhoScored rating of 7.54.
Pervis Estupiñán (Brighton) - 7.63
Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan completes our back four, having made a total of five key passes in Friday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton. The Ecuador international also contributed with two tackles, two clearances and three ball recoveries, while he won five of the six duels he contested on the night.
For the second season running, Arsenal scored at least five goals at the London Stadium, and star player Bukayo Saka was directly involved in three of them, while he also won a penalty. Saka provided assists for Gabriel (on 10 minutes) and Leandro Trossard (on 27), before winning the penalty that Martin Odegaard would convert 10 minutes before half-time. The England international then found the net from the spot himself in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time.
Saka is joined in our Team of the Week by England team-mate Cole Palmer, who both scored and assisted in the Blues’ 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday. Palmer teed up Enzo Fernandez for the hosts’ second goal of the afternoon after 36 minutes, before finding the net in spectacular fashion seven minutes from the final whistle, bringing his tally of goal involvements for the season to 14.
Justin Kluivert (Bournemouth) - 8.41
In a somewhat bizarre moment of history, Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert became the first player to score a hat-trick of penalties in a Premier League match, as the Cherries ran out 4-2 winners at Molineux on Saturday. The Dutchman stepped up to convert from the spot in the third, 18th and 74th minutes, while he also made two key passes, two tackles and three ball recoveries, to land a WhoScored rating of 8.41.
Kevin Schade (Brentford) - 10.0
With a perfect WhoScored rating of 10.0, Brentford’s hat-trick hero Kevin Schade is our Premier League Player of the Week. Schade was directly involved in all four of the Bees’ goals in Saturday’s win over Leicester, providing the assist for Yoane Wissa’s early equaliser, before going on to find the net three times.
Evanilson (Bournemouth) - 8.45
Like team-mate Kluivert, Bournemouth striker Evanilson also achieved history over the weekend, becoming the first player to win three penalties in a single Premier League match. The 25-year-old remarkably won more penalties than he managed shots on goal at Molineux (two), while he also made one key pass, two tackles and four ball recoveries.
Joshua Zirkzee (Manchester United) - 8.48
Rounding off our XI is Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, who scored in the Premier League for the first time since the opening day, with the Dutchman bagging a brace against Everton at Old Trafford. Having struggled to find the net under Erik ten Hag, the 23-year-old looked more and more like the player United supporters thought they had signed from Bologna in the summer, operating to great effect in Ruben Amorim’s new set-up.
