The 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign drew to a close on Saturday afternoon. As such, it's time to run through the WhoScored Team of the Season with Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Mainz 05, FC Heidenheim and Hoffenheim all represented in the XI

Oliver Baumann (Hoffenheim) - 6.92

Hoffenheim finished the season seventh and while they conceded the fourth most goals (66) in the division, it would have been a lot worse for Pellegrino Matarazzo's side were it not for Oliver Baumann's exploits between the sticks. The 33-year-old made more saves (146) than any other goalkeeper in the Bundesliga this season to help land a WhoScored rating of 6.92

Patrick Mainka (FC Heidenheim) - 7.00

FC Heidenheim exceeded expectations in their debut Bundesliga campaign with centre-back Patrick Mainka superb at the back. The 29-year-old ranked third for both tackles (85) and clearances (156) in Germany's top tier as Frank Schmidt navigated his side to a top half finish.

Sepp van den Berg (Mainz 05) - 7.04

The best rated centre-back in the Bundesliga this season, Sepp van den Berg ended the campaign with a WhoScored rating of 7.04. The 22-year-old blocked the second most shots (36) and won the second most aerial duels (173) in the division to lock down his spot in the team of the season.

Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund) - 6.99

Rounding off the backline is Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck, who returned a WhoScored rating of 6.99 this season. Dortmund boasted the fourth best defensive record in the division having conceded 43 goals, while Schlotterbeck impressed with his distribution. Indeed, only Granit Xhaka (3003) made more accurate passes than the German (2370), which is a boost for the national team ahead of the Euros.

Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich) - 7.68

The first of three Bayern Munich players, Leroy Sane was again a dribble machine for Thomas Tuchel's men having completed more dribbles (93) than any other player in the division. Sane also ranked ninth for key passes (72), while only one player made more assists than Sane (11) in Germany's top tier.
