Manchester City 6-0 Chelsea: Player ratings explained as City run riot
After a remarkable game at The Etihad Stadium we explain the player ratings from Manchester City’s thumping 6-0 win over Chelsea as the champions returned to the top of the Premier League.
MANCHESTER CITY - 7.76
Ederson: 7.68 - Despite the dominant scoreline City’s keeper was called into action on a number of occasions and answered all the questions asked of him, with a strong save from a Higuain volley the best of four on the day.
Kyle Walker: 7.26 - After a strong start from Eden Hazard, Walker settled into the game and was untested for large parts, completing 55 of 56 passes.
John Stones: 7.27 - Didn’t have a great deal to do but coped well with any Chelsea threat and was typically composed in possession, completing 96 per cent of his passes.
Aymeric Laporte: 7.13 - Like Stones, he dealt with anything the Blues had to thrown at him but in truth had little to do.
Oleksandr Zinchenko: 8.70 - Fully justified his selection with a strong input from left-back, completing four tackles and registering two assists, squaring astutely for City’s sixth.
Fernandinho: 8.20 - A typically dominant and assured display from the Brazilian, who made more tackles and interceptions combined (8) than any other player and won all four of his aerial duels.
Kevin De Bruyne: 7.70 - Not showing any signs of struggle following a number of injury problems, De Bruyne controlled proceedings from the outset, completing 88 per cent of his passes and delivering a superb cross from which Aguero so nearly scored.
Ilkay Gündoğan: 8.21 - Bagged his fifth league goal of the season and was busy all game, producing two interceptions and completing 97 per cent of his passes.
Bernardo Silva: 7.87 - Key to City’s outstanding start to the game, playing a vital role in the opener and setting up Aguero for a guilt-edged chance moments later.
Raheem Sterling: 10 (Man of the Match) - Took his tally to 12 league goals for the season with a well taken double, bookending the hosts’ goal haul, while winning the penalty and completing four dribbles. Too hot for Chelsea to handle, just edging the man of the match award on overall rating points.

Sergio Aguero: 10 - Any fears that it might not be Aguero’s day after a truly horrific miss early on were quashed by a sensational strike just minutes later. Went on to score his third hat-trick of the season and 11th of his Premier League career, whilst crashing a header against the bar shortly after the break.
Subs: Gabriel Jesus (6.42), Riyad Mahrez (6.06), David Silva (6.15)
CHELSEA - 5.82
Kepa Arrizabalaga: 5.05 - Produced three saves but conceded sixth and should have done better with City’s fourth in a game he’ll be in a hurry to forget.
Cesar Azpilicueta: 5.20 - Showed the fight many of his teammates lacked, making six tackles, but grew frustrated and gave away a relatively cheap penalty.
Antonio Rudiger: 5.70 - Made four tackles but lost all four of his aerial duels and didn’t dominate at the back whatsoever and couldn’t handle Aguero.
David Luiz: 5.40 - Started well enough with some incisive forward passes but defensively did little to prevent a City whitewash.
Marcos Alonso: 5.78 - Another abject display from the left-back, who has suffered a drop in form this season. Guilty of vacating his position for City’s opener and generally outmanoeuvred by Bernardo Silva. Booked and subbed.
Jorginho: 5.82 - So far off the pace of the City players and in matches that Chelsea don’t see the lion’s share of the ball his merits are questionable right now. A modest 83 per cent pass accuracy. Overrun and booked.
N’Golo Kante: 5.91 - Played incredibly high up the pitch in the first half with some unfruitful pressing and paid the price in the second half as he began to look tired. Four tackles but still way off his best.
Ross Barkley: 5.17 - Had some nice touches in truth but one catastrophic one handed City their third goal of the game and ultimately ended any hopes of a fightback. Replaced, predictably, by Kovacic early in the second half.
Pedro: 6.18 - Kept the ball well, misplacing just one of 35 pass attempts, but guilty of missing a great first half chance. Replaced after an anonymous second half showing.
Eden Hazard: 6.61 - Started brightly in the first half and had some nice moments throughout, completing five dribbles, but went missing somewhat when the going got tough.
Gonzalo Higuain: 6.18 - Could do little more than he did given the pattern of play and had a great effort well saved, while setting up Pedro smartly in the first half but barely featured after the break.
Subs: Mateo Kovacic (6.07), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (6.18), Emerson (6.23)
