Premier League round-up: London feel to best XI as Tottenham and Fulham dominate
There’s a London feel to the Premier League team of the week of the third week of the season as nine of the 11 players ply their trade in the capital. The star man was Fulham arrival Andre Schurrle, with the German excelling in their entertaining 4-2 win over Burnley. Schurrle rifled in 11 shots in the victory, that a record in a Premier League match this season, and hit the back of the net in the encounter.
With three key passes and two successful dribbles to his name, Schurrle earned a WhoScored.com rating of 9.08, that better than any other player in a third round of fixtures of the 2018/19 campaign. Teammate Aleksandar Mitrovic also makes the cut, with the Serbian thriving following his return to Craven Cottage.
The striker bagged a key first half brace in the space of two minutes and means no player has scored more league goals than Mitrovic (3) in England’s top tier this term. The 23-year-old won two aerial duels and made one key pass as he gained a WhoScored.com rating of 8.68. Sandwiched in between the Fulham pair is Tottenham ace Lucas Moura.
He netted twice in Spurs’ 3-0 win at Manchester United on Monday night and in the process, is Spurs’ top scorer at Old Trafford in the Premier League era. Two successful dribbles, one key pass, three interceptions and one tackle saw the Brazilian earn the WhoScored.com man of the match award with a rating of 8.99 to partner Mitrovic in attack.
At the other end of the spectrum, Asmir Begovic endured an outing to forget as Bournemouth drew 2-2 with Everton. The goalkeeper committed two errors leading to a goal, which means he has made seven mistakes that have resulted in the opposition scoring since the start of the 2017/18 campaign. He saved just one of the three shots on target he faced on Saturday and a disappointing showing was capped off with a WhoScored.com rating of 4.41, that the worst in a Premier League match this season.
