Fantasy Football Tipster: Gameweek 11

This week's fantasy football tipster should give you an idea of a few players that are likely to impact upon their respective games this weekend as we suggest some potential transfers worth making ahead of gameweek 11 in the Premier League.

We've chosen a 3-man defence and goalkeeper that may not have too much work to get through and a midfield and attack likely to be among the goals as the league begins to take shape. With a couple of high profile games to consider, we've swerved most of those featuring in Sunday's big match-ups, choosing instead to pick players perhaps more certain to make an impression this weekend.

As ever, our selection has been picked with a statistical frame of mind, with our WhoScored match forecasts continuing to lend a hand in indicating the probable outcomes of the games this Saturday and Sunday.

Goalkeeper

We start in goal, and with Manchester United boasting somewhat of an unbelievable record against Aston Villa, David De Gea isn't likely to be too busy at Villa Park. The Villans have beaten United just once in 33 games, and not at home in the league in their last 16 attempts, while only Sunderland have had fewer shots on target this season (33).

Defence

Our three man backline is Toffee heavy, showing how much confidence we have that Everton won't be too troubled by Sunderland by including two of the home side's star defenders. Leighton Baines is our first pick, with Everton likely to cause a threat to a Sunderland side that are 'weak' at defending against set pieces according to their WhoScored characteristics.

Phil Jagielka joins his teammate in our XI, mainly due to the fact that their weekend opposition have seemed reluctant in front of goal, mustering a measly 12 shots on target thus far. The Black Cats have scored just 3 times in 5 games on the road this season and are unlikely to bomb forward against a high-flying Everton side, whose defensive organisation is key to their excellent home form - unbeaten at Goodison Park in 8 league games, winning 6.

Completing our trio here is Stoke summer signing Geoff Cameron, with the American going about his business extremely tidily since his move from the MLS. The Potters are so hard to break down at The Britannia, conceding just one home goal in the league this season, while visiting QPR are really struggling, having netted just 8 goals in 10 games thus far.

Midfield

Flanking a 5-man midfield we start with Arsenal's Theo Walcott on the right, who is likely to come into the side after another goal in midweek at Schalke. Despite the England international's public desire to play up front, he is likely to make do with a place on the wing, and against a Fulham side 'weak' at defending attacks from wide areas, he may have joy once again, having scored 5 goals in his last 5 appearances for The Gunners.

On the opposite flank is Walcott's ex-colleague Samir Nasri, who faces a Spurs side that will be keen to end the Frenchman’s run of success against them. The City man has scored in 3 of his last 4 games against Tottenham, bagging a hat-trick of assists in the match in which he failed to strike, and Arsenal fans will, on this rare occasion, be cheering on their old player this weekend.

Elsewhere in midfield, we're tipping Kevin Nolan to have a say in the proceedings up at his old stomping ground in Newcastle as West Ham make the trip to the North-East on Sunday. Nolan is The Hammers top scorer and despite failing to net in his last two games, he hasn't gone longer than that without a goal this season and could get joy from the knock-downs of fellow former Magpie Andy Carroll.

Steve Sidwell is another player we're tipping to seek revenge against a former employer as the ex-Arsenal youngster makes the trip to The Emirates with Fulham in the early kick-off on Saturday. The midfielder has played twice against The Gunners for Fulham, scoring in each game, and he will be high on confidence after netting a late equaliser against Everton last weekend.

Completing our midfield is Swansea's record signing Pablo Hernandez, who opened his account for his new club to earn The Swans a share of the spoils against Chelsea last time out. Michael Laudrup's side face bottom club Southampton and the match forecast suggests the travelling Welsh outfit are extremely likely to score from a through ball situation. The former Valencia man has already delivered 3 accurate passes of such ilk this season and could be the key to unlocking a leaky Saints defence.

Attack

Our strike pairing this week is formed of an uncompromising duo, with Manchester United's Wayne Rooney taking our captain's armband as he prepares to face Villa. The forward has netted 12 times in all competitions against The Villans, including 8 in his last 8 in the league. More worryingly for the hosts on Saturday evening, in the 4 games he has scored against them in said 8 recent league encounters, he has gone on to net a brace in each.

The last name on our teamsheet this week is that of Norwich captain Grant Holt, whose run of three successive games on the scoresheet has come to an end in the last fortnight. However, the last time Norwich met Reading in the league, in The Championship in 2010/11, Holt netted in both fixtures. The bottom of the table clash should be an open affair, with both sides desperate for the win, so the journeyman striker could see plenty of action.
