Premier League Team of the Month: Rejuvenated Tottenham duo make XI
Here we run through the best WhoScored rated XI for the month of November in the Premier League.
Goalkeeper: Bernd Leno (Arsenal) - 7.30 rating
November wasn't a good month for Arsenal by any stretch and Bernd Leno was called into action far more than he would have liked. Leno was the only goalkeeper to save a penalty in the division, while a return of 5.3 saves per game ranked second.
Right-back: Serge Aurier (Tottenham) - 7.58 rating
Serge Aurier has enjoyed a stunning renaissance under Jose Mourinho and is now one of Tottenham's most in-form players. The Ivorian right-back recorded a WhoScored rating above 7.00 in all four of his league appearances in November and registered one assist in that time. Aurier completed 18 tackles and interceptions combined in that time, as well as 15 clearances. In fact, no player won possession in the defensive third more times than Aurier (22) in the Premier League last month.
Centre-back: Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester) - 7.65 rating
Caglar Soyuncu is already being linked with a January move to Manchester City, such his fine form this season. The Leicester centre-back scored his first goal of the campaign last month and helped Leicester keep three clean sheets in a row in the Premier League. The 23-year-old impressively registered a pass success rate above 90% in two of his three appearances in November and made 24 clearances.
Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) - 7.69 rating
Virgil van Dijk forms a formidable centre-back partnership with Caglar Soyuncu after finishing November with a brace in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Brighton. The Netherlands international won 22 aerial duels and completed 29 clearances across four league games to ensure Liverpool had a 100 per cent record last month. Furthermore, only one outfielder completed more long balls than Van Dijk (24) in the Premier League last term.
Left-back: Lucas Digne (Everton) - 7.73 rating
Despite poor results in November for Everton, Lucas Digne registered a WhoScored rating above 7.00 in all three of his appearances. The 26-year-old started November with a WhoScored Man of the Match performance in their 1-1 draw with Tottenham. He registered one assist last month and created a further 10 goalscoring chances over four games - only one player registered more key passes in the division.
Right wing: Adama Traore (Wolves) - 7.96 rating
Adama Traore finished November with assists in successive appearances, double the tally he managed in his previous 10 league matches combined this season. Furthermore, only two players completed more dribbles than Traore (14) in the Premier League last month. Traore also drew six fouls and completed seven tackles and interceptions combined.
Central midfield: James Maddison (Leicester) - 8.20 rating
James Maddison picked up two WhoScored Man of the Match awards in three appearances in November and registered at least four more key passes than any other player in the Premier League (15). Maddison also scored in Leicester's 2-0 win over Arsenal at the beginning of the month, while chipping in with 11 tackles to help Leicester record three straight wins without conceding.
Central midfield: Joao Moutinho (Wolves) - 7.99 rating
Joao Moutinho opened his account for the season in November with a goal in Wolves' 2-1 win away to Bournemouth. The Portugal international also registered nine key passes in three games and completed 16 tackles and interceptions combined.
Left wing: Dele Alli (Tottenham) - 7.94 rating
Like Serge Aurier, Dele Alli has benefited from a change of manager at Tottenham and has rediscovered his best form under Jose Mourinho. Alli played a direct hand in four goals (three goals, one assist) in as many league appearances last month, with three of those coming in Mourinho's two league games in charge. Alli completed eight dribbles against Bournemouth on Saturday, one more than he managed in his previous six league appearances combined this season.
Striker: Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - 7.73 rating
Jamie Vardy has scored in six league games in a row, with three of those games falling in the month of November. The former England international played a direct hand in five goals in three appearances in total (three goals, two assists) and fired off 11 shots in that time.
Striker: Raul Jimenez (Wolves) - 8.41 rating
Saving the best until last, Raul Jimenez finished November as our Premier League player of the month. The Wolves striker scored in three straight games last month and no player won possession in the attacking third more times in the division (six). Jimenez had 20 shots across three league appearances, while registering seven key passes. The Mexico international also completed six dribbles in the league last month.
