Player Ratings: Sweden 1-0 Switzerland - Forsberg helps Swedes through to next round

WhoScored.com run through the player ratings from Sweden's 1-0 win over Switzerland on Tuesday afternoon...

Sweden - 6.75

Robin Olsen - 7.50 - Made four saves, the best of which came late in the game from a Haris Seferovic header. Kept a seventh clean sheet in his last eight caps for Sweden.

Mikael Lustig - 7.11 - Defended the back post well from crosses, making six clearances, but picked up a costly booking in the first half to rule him out of the quarter-finals.

Andreas Granqvist - 7.19 - A game that played to his strength in the air, making seven clearances, Granqvist continued to lead by example for Sweden.

Victor Lindelof - 6.74 - Had little to do but what did what was required and showed better composure in his distribution than the rest of his defensive teammates.

Ludwig Augustinsson - 6.74 - Bombed forward when he could, attempting seven crosses, but had little to do defensively.

Viktor Claesson - 7.67 - Another hard working display from the flank, Claesson carried little threat in attack but made a match high of six interceptions and produced four interceptions in another strong rearguard display.

Gustav Svensson - 7.02 - Industrious in the middle of the park and put his body on the line in the box but was wasteful in possession.

Albin Ekdal - 7.08 - Carried the ball well in the second half to relieve some pressure but missed a glorious chance in the first half.

Emil Forsberg - 7.80 (Man of the Match) - Some moments of quality in a match severely lacking in that regard, even if his match winner was extremely fortunate.

Marcus Berg - 6.41 - Wasteful in front of goal in the first half and grew increasingly frustrated, committing seven fouls in an isolated role late on.

Ola Toivonen - 6.91 - Registered the assist for Forsberg’s goal and worked hard, moving deeper and deeper to help keep the Swiss at bay.

Subs: Martin Olsson (6.01), Emil Krafth (6.14), Isaac Thelin (5.99)

SWITZERLAND – 6.40

Yann Sommer – 6.11 – Made x saves to keep Switzerland in the game and could do nothing to stop Sweden’s deflected winner

Michael Lang – 5.05 – Made three interceptions but was correctly shown a red card in the final seconds for bringing down Martin Olsson when bearing through on goal

Johan Djourou – 6.71 – Made seven clearances, won four aerial duels and completed 93.6% of his passes, but didn’t look completely comfortable on the ball

Manuel Akanji – 6.62 – Deflected Emil Forsberg’s tame shot into the top corner to hand Sweden the game

Ricardo Rodriguez – 7.52 – Constantly bombed down Switzerland’s left flank, attempting 17 crosses. Haris Seferovic almost scored from a perfect Rodriguez cross right at the death

Valon Behrami – 6.45 – Offered nothing going forward and committed three fouls, picking up his second booking of the tournament

Granit Xhaka – 6.42 – Attempted the most passes for Switzerland but did little on the ball and, like his midfield partner Behrami, committed three fouls

Steven Zuber – 6.58 – Apart from one passing move that resulted in a great goalscoring opportunity for Blerim Dzemaili, Zuber offered little in attack

Blerim Dzemaili – 5.94 – Failed to hit the target with his only notable involvement before being subbed off with just less than 20 minutes remaining

Xherdan Shaqiri – 6.55 – His involvement was fleeting, but he was the most likely Switzerland player, alongside Ricardo Rodriguez to create an opening. In fact no player from either side made more key passes than Shaqiri (4).

Josip Drmic – 6.17 – The 25-year-old was limited to barely any football last season and that showed against Switzerland. The Gladbach forward was limited to 22 touches, the fewest of any player that started for Switzerland.

Subs: Breel Embolo (6.16), Haris Seferovic (6.35)
