Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool stars lead Premier League form rankings
While there is no change at the top of the pile in this week’s Premier League form rankings there are four new faces in the latest top ten and the gap to the leader is closing.
10. Lucas Digne (Everton) - Weighted rating 7.44
Down seven places from third, Everton’s shock defeat to relegated Fulham at the weekend saw Digne secure his lowest WhoScored.com rating (6.26) since seeing red at Huddersfield in January. The Frenchman failed to have his usual impact in attack as the Toffees came unstuck at Craven Cottage.
9. Christian Eriksen (Tottenham) - Weighted rating 7.45
Registering an assist for the third Premier League game running - taking his tally to 12 for the season - Eriksen soars onto the leaderboard following Spurs convincing win over Huddersfield. The Dane had five shots and created six chances, taking his tally to 20 key passes in his last four league matches.
8. Chris Wood (Burnley) - Weighted rating 7.46
This week’s only new qualifier - doing so having now started six of the Clarets’ last eight outings - Wood took his league tally for the season into double figures with a match-winning brace against Cardiff. Nine of the New Zealanders ten strikes have come since the turn of the year.
7. Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - Weighted rating 7.47
Dropping five spots from second last week, Vardy was kept quiet as Newcastle upset the odds at in-form Leicester. The striker had a shot on target in the second minute but had just one attempt thereafter and completed only eight passes over 90 minutes in an ineffective display.
6. James Maddison (Leicester) - Weighted rating 7.53
Another Fox to fall this week, Maddison drops just two places compared to his clubmate but was still nullified by the Magpies on Friday. The youngster had just one shot - a free-kick off target - and created only one chance on a quiet night by his standards.
5. Ilkay Gündoğan (Manchester City) - Weighted rating 7.55
As the business end of the season has kicked into gear Ilkay Gundogan’s role in the Manchester City side has increased, showing just how much faith Guardiola has in his underrated midfielder. The German international has certainly been in fine form lately, completing four dribbles and 92 per cent of his passes in victory at Palace.
4. Willy Boly (Wolves) - Weighted rating 7.57
This week’s highest climber, Boly scored his third league goal of the season from centre-back at Southampton, while producing five tackles, three interceptions and winning eight aerial duels. It was all in vain in the end, but the Frenchman has been in fine form since the start of March as Wolves picked up points against both Chelsea and United.
3. Roberto Firmino (Liverpool) - Weighted rating 7.66
While Salah’s stunner stole the headlines Firmino was at his unselfish best in victory over Chelsea and climbs four places in this week’s charts. While it was the first game in five that the Brazilian failed to have a hand in a goal he created three chances and chipped in with two tackles to help keep the title race alive.
2. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) - Weighted rating 8.06
Back to something close to his best of the previous campaign, the league is so much better for having a fully fit Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian registered his first two league assists of the season at Selhurst Park, jumping seven places as a result having created six chances in total and weighed in with an excellent five tackles.
1. Eden Hazard (Chelsea) - Weighted rating 8.29
He may have missed two big chances at Anfield - the first of which was inches away from being another superb goal - but Hazard was at his tormenting best with the ball at his feet. The Belgian’s rating has dropped regardless of completing nine dribbles, which was more than Liverpool as a whole and second only to himself (12 vs Huddersfield) in a single Premier League game this season.
