WhoScored's Premier League Team of the Week: Super Salah leads Liverpool trio in best XI

With gameweek 19 in the Premier League coming to an end on Wednesday evening, we’re taking a look at the best performers from the round in our Team of the Week.

Represented in our XI are Fulham, Liverpool, Southampton, Newcastle, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Bernd Leno (Fulham) - 7.95

Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno earned his place in yet another Team of the Week following a fine performance in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, with the German making a total of six saves, six throws and six ball recoveries, on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.95.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) - 8.91

Despite all of the talk surrounding his future at the club, Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold did his talking on the pitch at West Ham on Sunday, firing home his first goal of the season from outside the penalty area. The England international also made three key passes, four tackles, three clearances and 11 ball recoveries, to land a WhoScored rating of 8.91.

Jan Bednarek (Southampton) - 8.08

Though he may have came out on the losing side of Sunday’s clash at Selhurst Park, Southampton centre-back Jan Bednarek earns a place in our back four, having made four tackles, 11 clearances, six interceptions and three ball recoveries, while also winning 12 duels against the Eagles.

Dan Burn (Newcastle) - 7.91

Bednarek is joined at centre-back by Newcastle’s Dan Burn, who helped Eddie Howe’s side to a fourth Premier League clean sheet in a row at Old Trafford on Monday night. Burn completed all but three of the 38 passes he attempted, while also making four tackles, six clearances and two interceptions.

Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves) - 8.07

Wolves’ fine start to life under new boss Vitor Pereira continued with a creditable point away to Tottenham on Sunday, and left wing-back Rayan Ait-Nouri was responsible for setting up both of the visiting side’s goals. The Algerian provided the assists for Hwang Hee-chan’s opener and Jorgen Strand Larsen’s late equaliser, to help himself to a WhoScored rating of 8.07.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 9.65

With a WhoScored rating of 9.65, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is our Premier League Player of the Week following another sensational performance, this time against West Ham. Salah was directly involved in three of the Reds’ five goals at the London Stadium, scoring one and assisting two - which saw him become the first player in Premier League history to score and assist in eight separate matches across a single campaign - and with 20 still to play!

Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool) - 8.26

Our Liverpool trio is completed by midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who was on fine form in east London, making three key passes, four tackles and 10 ball recoveries on his way to a WhoScored rating of 8.26.

Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) - 8.00

Nottingham Forest made it four wins in a row and (temporarily) moved in to second place in the Premier League with their 2-0 victory at Goodison Park on Sunday, and captain Morgan Gibbs-White’s third goal of the season all but sealed the deal for Nuno’s side. The England international also made a key pass, a successful dribble, seven passes into the final third and five ball recoveries, in a strong all-round showing.

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal) - 8.42

Against Brentford on Wednesday, Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli netted his second goal in the space of three matches - and in some style, too. Only three minutes after Mikel Merino had given the Gunners an early second-half lead, Martinelli latched onto a loose ball in the Brentford box before firing a volley into the far bottom corner, for his fifth league goal of the season.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City) - 8.63

After four matches across all competitions without finding the net - a significant goal drought by his exceptional standards - Erling Haaland was back on the scoresheet for Manchester City in their 2-0 win at Leicester on Sunday. The Norwegian fired off a total of six shots at the King Power Stadium, while he also made two key passes and two successful dribbles, to register a WhoScored rating of 8.63.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) - 8.22

Rounding off our Team of the Week is Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who was directly involved in both of the home side’s goals in their 2-2 draw with Brighton on Monday evening. The England international stepped up to convert an equalising penalty 10 minutes from half-time, before providing the assist for Morgan Rogers’ well-taken finish two minutes into the second half. In all, Watkins managed four key passes, six shots and 12 touches in the opposition box.
