Team News

Newcastle
Liverpool
  • With as many as seven players likely to be sidelined, Steve Bruce has very little options to choose from for the final game of the season, particularly at the back.
  • Full-backs Danny Rose and Emil Krafth had to play in a back three at Brighton, keeping a clean sheet, but the latter is now a doubt with an ankle injury.
  • The team may well remain unchanged from said stalemate at the Amex, though both Joelinton and Andy Carroll will be battling to bench Dwight Gayle.
  • It remains to be seen what sort of side Jurgen Klopp will select for the champions final game of the season, though there will surely be some rotation with there no longer being an opportunity to hit the 100-point mark.
  • Naby Keita and Gini Wijnaldum were replaced relatively early against Chelsea and should be in contention to keep their places as a result, while Adam Lallana was not given one last Anfield appearance in midweek but could make his final outing for the club in some capacity here.

Prediction

  • Newcastle have been ravaged by injuries of late and Steve Bruce will be keen for his players to get this game out of the way and rest ahead of next season, though speculation remains as to whether he will be the man in charge.
  • Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy on Wednesday and will be keen not to suffer the sort of hangover that saw them thrashed by City immediately after being crowned champions.
  • The opposition here are of a very different calibre, however, and while the Reds' defensive resolve has disappeared of late, they are still scintillating going forwards and should put a makeshift defence to the sword.
