Team News

Man Utd
Cardiff
  • Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku may have both played their final games for Manchester United, with injury expected to rule both out against Cardiff on Sunday.
  • Antonio Valencia will leave the club when his contract expires this summer and he will hope to turn out at Old Trafford as a United player for the final time this weekend. He hasn't played for United since the start of January.
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed he will hand starts to one or two academy graduates on Sunday, with Mason Greenwood expected to be one of those. Angel Gomes, James Garner and Tahith Chong are the others in with a shout.
  • Spanish trio Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and David de Gea are all on course to leave United this summer and Sunday's game may be their last chances to play for United.
  • With relegation now guarenteed, it remains to be seen what sort of team Cardiff manager Neil Warnock will field on Sunday.
  • He may look to give fringe players a chance to play at Old Trafford but, given United's recent form, they actually have a decent chance to finish the campaign on a positive note.
  • Víctor Camarasa is unlikely to play any part here after coming off after 11 minutes of last weekend's 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace. Harry Arter is also a doubt for the away side.

Prediction

  • In order to finish in five place, Manchester United have to better Arsenal's result on the final day of the season. Other than that, this game means nothing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side. United have endured a miserable end to the season, winning just two of their last 11 matches in all competitions.
  • Cardiff were relegated last weekend and have nothing left to play for. Now they know where they stand, the pressure will be off and their players will have the chance to go out and enjoy playing at one of England's great stadiums.
  • Given the way both teams have played in recent months, a game of little quality should be expected. Solskjaer will be desperate to end what has been a miserable campaign for United on a positive note.

  • Pathetic.

  • United showed such a disrespect to their fans, what a shame....

  • Embarrassing season for United.

  • United should look for a better manager else next season will be another waste

  • 4-0

  • @nexus747 I'll be shocked if United didn't win 3-1.

  • Man united 2-0 Cardiff

  • If the lads didn't put out to reach CL, why would they lift a finger to be 5th instead of 6th? The value of the positions are the same. The bloody rivalry between them and Gunners is long gone.
