Tottenham to offer new five-year deal to right-back

Tottenham are ready to offer Kieran Trippier a new five-year deal with Manchester City circling for Kyle Walker, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Trippier earned his England debut against France earlier this month after finishing last season in fine form and now Tottenham are looking to reward the 26-year-old with improved terms despite the fact he still has three years remaining on his current deal.

The 26-year-old joined Tottenham from Burnley in a £3.5m deal in 2015 as back-up to Walker but he proved last season than he can be a more than capable deputy.

Walker finished the season out of the team after reportedly falling out with Mauricio Pochettino and his future remains up in the air as Tottenham are reportedly demanding in excess of £50m for his signature.

City are still favourites to sign the England international and Tottenham are moving to secure the long-term future of Trippier, who can expect to be Pochettino’s first choice right back next season.

Of players that registered more than one assist in the Premier League last season, only Cesc Fabregas (1 every 110.6 minutes of action) required fewer minutes per assists than Trippier (every 113.2 minutes).
