Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico after abandoning their push for Leicester City's Ben Chilwell, reports Calciomercato via The Daily Express.
Chilwell had been a top target for the Blues as they seek to bring in a new left-back, but have since turned their attention to the Argentine.
Tagliafico has excelled for Ajax star this season and has made the WhoScored Champions League team of the campaign so far.
If Chelsea do raid the Eredivisie champions, it will be the second time they have moved for an Ajax star with a deal already in place that will see Hakim Ziyech move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Head coach Frank Lampard is looking to bring in a new left-back this summer with Marcos Alonso and Emerson both failing to impress the Chelsea boss.
Tagliafico is contracted to Ajax until 2022 and with his contract running out sooner rather than later, the Dutch outfit may elect to sell the 27-year-old rather than risk losing him on a free further down the line.
The attacking full-back has scored three goals and provided four assists in the Eredivisie this season and it is this offensive onus that appeals to Lampard.
