Diego Costa insists he is happy with life at Chelsea despite rumours of an £80m bid from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian, reports the Daily Mirror.
Costa was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge over the summer, with a return to Atletico Madrid mooted.
However, Antonio Conte convinced the Spain international to stay in west London are Chelsea are reaping the benefits, with Costa’s 14 league goals more than any other Premier League player this season.
His form has attracted the interest of Tianjin Quanjian, with Chelsea not adverse to selling to Far East sides having cashed in on Ramires and Oscar for a combined outlay of £85m in the last 12 months.
But Costa says he is happy and settled at Stamford Bridge despite hoping to return to Madrid last summer.
"Yes, yes. I was about to leave. I was about to... but, well, I’m happy here as well and that’s that,” the 28-year-old striker is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.
"I had the possibility to go to Atletico, because of a few things — the family, the life I have there... but not because of Chelsea, because, here, there’s a lot of love with the supporters, with the people, so I’m very happy. I'm very content.
"There was one thing I wanted to change for family reasons but it wasn’t to be, and I continue happy here.
"It was important too that the manager, from the very first minute, said he counted on me."
Costa will hope to fire Chelsea to their 14th successive league win when the Blues face off against their London rivals Tottenham on Wednesday night.
