Adam Smith has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with Bournemouth.
Smith was tentatively linked with a move to Tottenham earlier in the year as a possible replacement for Kyle Walker, but has instead extended his stay with the Cherries.
“Adam Smith has signed a new four-year contract at AFC Bournemouth,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The full-back’s deal at Vitality Stadium will now run through to the summer of 2021.
“Having previously spent the 2010/11 season on loan at the club, Smith joined the Cherries on a permanent basis in January 2014 from Tottenham Hotspur.
“The 26-year-old has since gone on to make 113 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three goals.”
On his new deal, Smith said: “I’m delighted. I’m settled in the area and get along really well with the lads.
“There is nowhere else I want to be at this moment. Everything is going well for me both on and off the pitch and I’m looking forward to that continuing.”
Manager Eddie Howe added: “When we first brought Adam to the club we believed he had huge potential. Adam has taken his opportunity, improved as a player and is an important member of our squad.
“We're delighted he will stay with us and hopefully continue his progression further.”
Smith played a key role for Bournemouth in the Premier League last season at both ends of the pitch, with no defender registering more assists than the right-back (5).
