Atletico Madrid are set to offer Tiago a new one-year contract, according to AS.
Tiago, 34, is approaching the final six months of his current deal and may not even appear before the end of the season after fracturing his tibia last weekend against Espanyol.
According to reports in Spain, the Portugal international’s injury has not changed the club’s thinking and their president Enrique Cerezo is now determined to reward the aging midfielder for his five years at the club.
The former Juventus midfielder has been the heartbeat of the Atletico side so far this season, with only Filipe Luis boasting a higher pass success rate than Tiago for Diego Simone’s team in La Liga this season.
