Man Utd agree personal terms with ball-winning machine Ugarte

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with number one midfield target Manuel Ugarte, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Having confirmed the signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro from Bologna and Lille, respectively, United's attention has turned to adding a new midfielder.

Joao Neves was believed to sit top of the club's wishlist, but with Benfica playing hard ball over the Portugal international, United turned their attention to Ugarte.

The 23-year-old impressed for PSG last season, though the French side are prepared to cash in on the Uruguay international despite only joining from Sporting CP last summer.

Ugarte ranked top for tackles per 90 (4.6) of those to make more than 10 appearances in Ligue 1 last season with United hoping to strike a deal with PSG for the signing of the youngster.

United are not expected to be done in the window following the likely addition of Ugarte either, with the Premier League side looking to add another centre-back despite the capture of Yoro.

Matthijs de Ligt is set to move to United this summer having fallen out of favour at Bayern Munich, while it remains to be seen whether they'll make another move for Jarrad Branthwaite having seen two bids rejected for the Everton star.
