Aston Villa complete £15m deal for Brentford striker

Aston Villa have won the race to sign Brentford striker Scott Hogan in a deal that could be worth up to £15m.

Hogan, 24, has been heavily linked with a move away from Griffin Park this month and was a target for West Ham for much of the January transfer window before the Premier League side pulled their interest.

Brentford have been holding out for £15m all month and Villa have met their valuation, with Rochdale set to pocket £3m from the deal due to a clause in the deal that saw Hogan join the Bees in 2014.

Steve Bruce’s side have already spent an extraordinary amount of money this season and their expenditure in January alone is set to surpass the £20m mark with Hogan poised to be their seventh signing of the month.

Of active players to have scored at least five goals in the last two Championship fixtures only Dwight Gayle (1 every 88 mins) has required fewer minutes per goal than Hogan (every 115 mins).
