Chelsea frontman on the cusp of China switch

Diego Costa could be on the verge of leaving Chelsea after his agent Jorge Mendes met with Tianjin Quanjian chairman Shu Yuhui, reports the London Evening Standard.

Costa won’t be included in Chelsea’s squad when they face Leicester on Saturday evening following a reported bust up with manager Antonio Conte.

The Spain international is the latest high profile player Tianjin Quanjian have been linked with and they are willing to pay the player in excess of £570,000-a-week to convince him to swap England for the Far East.

Costa has been in fine form for the Blues this season, having scored more goals (14) than any other Premier League player, with Chelsea reluctant to cash on in the 28-year-old.

The Blues were thought to be readying a contract extension and a pay rise in the coming months due to his good form, though that is unlikely to come to fruition now.

Costa had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge last summer, with Atletico Madrid interested, but Chelsea boss Conte convinced the striker to stay.

Chelsea aren’t adverse to sending their players to the Chinese Super League, with Ramires, Oscar and John Obi Mikel all making to the move to China in the last 12 months.
