According to the Birmingham Mail Napoli have emerged as suitors for Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi this summer.
The Serie A side are believed to be on the look out for a replacement for Faouzi Ghoulam, who is tipped to leave the club, and the 23-year old Villa man has reportedly made their shortlist.
After a bright start to his career in the Midlands the France youth international suffered a horrific leg break and in truth hasn’t looked the same since but Napoli are clearly confident they could get the former Nice man back to his best. In 10 league appearances last season the youngster averaged 3.6 tackles and 3.7 interceptions per game.
Amavi came to prominence in his final season in France and it was something of a shock when Villa completed a move for his services two years ago but he’s been unable to reach the same standards in England. While the full-back has made 33 league appearances this season, he’s fallen behind January signing Neil Taylor in the pecking order and with Steve Bruce seemingly unconvinced it wouldn’t be a shock if the club cashed in on one of their more saleable assets.
Napoli aren’t the first significant club to be linked with a move, with Liverpool and Marseille both believed to have shown an interest, while Villa chairman Tony Xia insisted that he rejected a £25m bid for the Frenchman in the transfer window.
