Bastian Schweinsteiger has returned to Manchester United first-team training for the first time in four months.
The 32-year-old was told to clear his first-team locker and train with the reserves when Jose Mourinho was appointed United manager in the summer, before leaving the midfielder out of their Europa League squad.
Schweinsteiger has still has two years left to run on the stunning three-year deal he signed when he completed a switch from Bayern Munich in 2015 to reunite with Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
The former Germany international has previously insisted he still had a dream of turning out for the Red Devils again, but that was ridiculed given his current position under Mourinho.
However, the veteran midfielder has now made a sensational return to first-team training moving him a step closer to achieving what once looked an unlikely dream.
Since the start of last season United’s win ratio in the Premier League is far better without Schweinsteiger in the starting XI (51.4%) compared to when the German has started (38.5%).
