Liverpool could lose hottest prospect to the Bundesliga
According to The Mirror Liverpool’s top young striker Rhian Brewster could be set for a shock move to the Bundesliga, with Borussia Monchengladbach keeping a close eye on the teenager.
The focal point for the victorious England Under 17s side at last summer’s World Cup, Brewster has had a turbulent season on and off the pitch, derailed by a knee injury, but the Reds are still desperate to tie him down to a new contract.
However, the 18-year-old is yet to sign a professional deal at Liverpool and as things stand will be available on a free transfer this summer.
The reports that a move to Germany could materialise follow a trend of an increasing number of top English talents looking to further their development abroad.
Everton forward Ademola Lookman chose a loan move to Leipzig over lower league football in England in January, while former Manchester City starlet Jadon Sancho made a permanent switch to Borussia Dortmund last summer.
The first team opportunities that both have received of late will certainly offer encouragement to a player of Brewster’s ability that he could also make an impact in the Bundesliga.
Lookman has four top-flight goals to his name since making a January switch, while Sancho has also opened his account in Germany and registered a further four assists.
