Team News

Hibernian
Motherwell
  • Hibernian manager David Gray made three changes from the Hibees' 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Easter Road, before they lost by a sole goal to Rangers at Ibrox in last Sunday's sole Scottish Premiership fixture.
  • Lewis Miller came into the Hibees' back four - replacing Nicky Cadden who picked up a knock in training so wasn't risked for the trip to Glasgow - to join Warren O'Hora, Marvin Ekpiteta and Jordan Obita.
  • Club captain Joe Newell had a minor operation recently, so Josh Campbell took his midfield berth. Martin Boyle was also on the treatment table, so Junior Hoilett came in to make his first Hibs start against the Gers last weekend.
  • Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell named one change to the Steelmen side that secured a spot in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Dundee United at Fir Park, before they beat St Mirren by the same scoreline.
  • Aston Oxborough continued in goal behind an unchanged back three of Dan Casey, Liam Gordon and Paul McGinn. Stephen O'Donnell remained at right wing-back as Ewan Wilson kept his place on the left hand-side of midfield.
  • Davor Zdravkovski and Andy Halliday started in the middle of the park. Lennon Miller and Moses Ebiye, who took Tawanda Maswanhise's spot in the starting eleven, supported Zach Robinson in attack against Saints last Saturday.

Prediction

  • Hibernian host Motherwell at Easter Road, with the Hibees winless in four league games meanwhile Motherwell have lost just one of their last four in the Scottish Premiership.
  • Hibs are now without a win in 22 league meetings with Rangers since a 2-1 success at Ibrox in February 2018, as their away day blues continued in Glasgow. The Hibees have only won one of their past 12 Scottish Premiership away fixtures, a 3-1 victory at McDiarmid Park against St Johnstone in April last season, so will hope to get back to winning ways here in front of their own fans.
  • Motherwell failed to win any of their three league meetings with St Mirren last season, picking up just two points in three matches against Saints, but got one over their former manager and a few former players last weekend. The Well won the first league meeting against Hibs last season, 2-1 last August in Lanarkshire, but have gone three games without a win against the hosts since.
  • Hibs beat Motherwell convincingly at Easter Road in their last league meeting, but two of the last three have ended in draws so a share of the spoils wouldn't be a great surprise this weekend.
